********Perspective/Reflection on House Change theory*********

Greetings!

     I got accepted to lsp in EDII
     And...

Since long ago (maybe 2 years) we, NYU applicants have been obsessed with firstly the FA change, then the house changes. As the FA change has been fixed, house change has been proven to be the only indicator of NYU acceptance up till this point. In the recent ED2 thread, we spend probably over 80 pages to discuss this mysterious theory that arouses us so highly that we freak out merely because of the change to “FRESHMAN”!

In order to offer some perspective to future applicants who care about their potential acceptance before the inform date, also based on the assumption that NYU officials won’t fix this boon indicator of a surprising nature, i would like to produce a brief chronicle of the house change that happened in our case of 2020 EDII.

The earliest report of house change happened in Jan. 21st.
Presumably, on the following days up till Feb. 6/7, people keep receiving house changes.
On Feb.8th, most of the housing status are modified.
On Feb. 15th morning, everybody who got in official received the real housing changes.

Alright, then. Let me elaborate a bit:
There are 4 types of “changes” (including the “no change”) that have been reported

  1. Showing non-renewable undergraduate for both FALL and SRPING. (no change)
  2. Showing Freshman in NYC for both FALL and SPRING.
  3. Showing Freshman in Tandon for only FALL
  4. Showing Freshman in NYC for only FALL

As far as people reported, these are all the reports i observed. Meanwhile i don’t make any assumption that there are other cases that have different appearance in housing status. So if you have different status, you are welcome to report.

Based on the statistics and results

  1. All possibilities (rejected, deferred, accepted)
  2. Rejected
  3. Accepted to Tandon
  4. Accepted (either first or second choice)

These are all the implications based our experience of 2020 EDII. I wonder if there are other situations existing. If there is, there is then.

CC is truly a source of anxiety! But i am so delighted that we can share/enhance each other’s anxiety in such a short period. I hope that everyone can get the best results that they deserve! Wish you guys best of luck!

Please note that: this reflection is only a sketch work based on my own experience and date collections on cc. It may not be accurate at all. But we have already experienced the accuracy of this indicator, which indicates that at least up till 2020 ed2 the house change means something. The only purpose of this thread is to offer maybe the slightest perspective on this prevalent theory floating around cc for a while.

End.

Good luck you 'all~

I will be willing to answer questions if there is any!

@Chalamagne916 Hello, I applied RD to NYU and I was wondering where I could find this information about housing? Would it be in the NYU portal?

@Rubisco228 https://housing.nyu.edu/apply/

@potatosackk thank you!

Hey, thanks for the post! In my housing portal, there is only access application for Fall in New York City: Brooklyn Freshman. Would this fall under the number 4 change? If not, any idea what that means?

@Chalamagne916 According to this theory, what would Fall in New York City for non-renewable undergraduate be? Would it be #4?

@TheRealTalq
That will go to #3, actually i typed it wrong: it should be Freshman in Brooklyn

@Rubisco228
more than likely yes.

I have only summer 2016 for NYC with an option to view application and then summer 2016 for Washington DC with “application closed” underneath. Any ideas what this means?

@versaysea Do a screenshot if you don’t mind. Don’t know what it is like based on your description.

I have the same thing as @versaysea ! Mine shows “Summer Session 2016 in NYC” and “Summer 2016in Washington DC”. Both of these apps are open. Anyone knows what this is all about???

According to this, would non-renewable undergraduate fall under number 1 (accepted,waitlisted, or rejected) ?

Hi guys! Where can I find this housing information? I’m signed into my NYU login account, however on the left side of the screen I only see things like application status, financial aid to do list etc… where is housing? Please help :frowning:

@kkgirl22 https://housing.nyu.edu/apply/

@tzaz01
According to past records, yes

@nastassjaa @versaysea
Due to the fact that i don’t think such things have ever occurred before, so i can’t give any constructive opinion, not even guessing… Sorry

Mine has spring 2016 (closed), summer 2016 and academic year 2016-2017 with non-renewable undergraduate. What does all this mean?

Mine just said Summer 2016 with a box to select 1 out of 3 options: NYU NYC, NYU Washington, NYU London. When I press on NYU NYC, and click access application it loads then nothing happens. When I click on Washington or London; however, it said application is closed. What do you interpret from this?

@confusedsenior28

Please do a screenshot, that has never happened to us during ed.

Mine shows Non-Renewable Undergraduate for Spring 2016 and Academic Year 2016-2017? What does that mean?
