Does anyone know if the pre-pharmacy curriculum at UGA is tough and how hard it is to be accepted into the pharmacy school? Also, if I applied for housing as soon as my roommate found out about her recent acceptance, how much of a chance is there that we won't recieve any of the 3 dorms we applied for? And if we aren't satisfied with our dorm, how much of a chance do we have at changing to ECV after we begin our freshmen year?

From my understanding, the pre-pharmacy curriculum requirements are quite challenging, as you'll be taking your fair share of hard science courses, O-Chem and the like. I believe Pre-Pharmacy should only take about two years, during which you take the PCAT and apply for Pharmacy school. Coming in with some hours does help I believe. Getting into UGA Pharmacy is difficult because a lot of students apply, so there will be competition. I'd say if you keep up with course work, maintain a solid GPA, and score reasonably well on the PCAT, however, you would be a competitive applicant.

As for Housing, this may be too late in the game to get your first or even second choice, but the Housing department tries their best to at least accommodate some choice in your top 3. I believe you may still have a shot applying now, but there are no guarantees. Also, I have never really heard of Freshman (besides a few rare exceptions) who live in ECV. If you apply to be on the Wait list for ECV now however, esp. since you already have a mutually requested roommate, you may have a shot. Lots of upperclassmen want to live there, though, and they'll have first priority.

Good luck, and hope this helps!

ljoh574393, I'm in the same boots as you, and I was thinking the same thing. I'm going to be doing pre-pharmacy at UGA, and I hope it doesn't take more than two years for me. The most difficult thing for me will be the PCAT. I don't do quite as well as I want to when it comes to standardized tests. Like on the SAT, my Math and Reading scores combined were 990.
