Phi Alpha Delta

Anyone a member of Phi Alpha Delta? Would you recommend it? Benefits? Drawbacks?

Thanks!

Benefits: guest speakers (adcoms), a lot of info about law schools and different careers after law schools, and support.

Drawbacks: unlike business frats, having connections here won't help you get admitted into law school. you're going to have to do it on your own.

How much do frats generally help in the admissions process (transfer/grad school)?

good question…anyone?

"How much do frats generally help in the admissions process (transfer/grad school)?"

none. that is, none in terms of direct admissions. the admissions officers make the calls and that's based on your accomplishments. frats aren't going to hook u up to get into a school. at the most though, is that frats can bring in an admissions officer to talk about the admissions process, and you can meet the admissions officer and ask them questions in a smaller and more personal setting. but your accomplishments is still what gets you in.

however, the key part is "based on your accomplishments." for example, business frats are really good at connecting for jobs and internships. they will recommend their frat brothers to their employers or tell their frat brothers that there are job openings at certain places. that will help boost their resume. this is, however, easier done for business where it's based on "soft" measures like work experience rather than in law or medicine where's it's based on hard quantitative measures (test scores, gpa, etc.)

That is not always good, however; adcoms will remember your countenance and name. If you make a bad impression, you will not want to be in his/her application pile.

Irrelevant

Ok, so it doesn't help for admissions... But is it a fun activity? Good place to make friends and stay motivated?
