Phillips Exeter Dress Code

I have a few questions about the PEA dress code. Although it says where khakis or dress pants or whatever, almost everybody I saw at exeter on revisit day was wearing jeans. is that acceptabele? also, it says no shirts with words/brand names, if i wore like a picture tee over a polo, would that be ok?

when you went to revist day,
it might have been 'dress down day'...
i was surprised when i went for an interveiw at a school with a formal dress code to see everyone wearing sweat pants and old jeans,
but my dad asked,
and yes it was a casual day

well, i didn't see anybody wearing sweats, but that is a posibility.

anyone who goes to exeter have anything to say?

Jeans are definitely okay.

everybody wears jeans. And no one really cares about the logo/brand name thing either, though I think they are kind of tacky.

YAY!!!! nobody wears brand name/logo shirts??? THANK GOODNESS!!!!! you're right, not only are they tacky, they're also really ugly. Everybody at my school wears Abercrombie and Fitch or Hollister, which is even worse, because we actually live near Hollister, CA.

Everyone wears jeans, although large writing on shirts isn't dress code (can be worn on Sundays, etc., though.) And I've definitely worn sweats/workout pants to class. In winter, girls, who aren't as bound by the dress code as guys, really let themselves go.

In spring, by contrast, we all start wearing makeup and dressing like tarts. This is completely normal and to be expected.

Although...I was in school in Italy before Exeter - let's just say that my prep year wardrobe, consisting of low-cut dresses and summery gear, did not go over well with dress-code-serious teachers...

Uh... that's what MY wardrobe consists of... Except I have a lot of ralph lauren clothes because that's my mom's favorite brand, but even then, they're like summery polos. Oh well, it's an excuse to shop for more clothes!!

girls have it WAY WAY WAY easier than guys. GUYS: shirt and tie. no exceptions. although some guys wear a polo and a tie. weird. and you can wear a sweater or whatever over it. for GIRLS, bjust don't wear anythign that says "Abercrombie" across it or involves sweats. other than that, no body cares. of course, you'll run into the occasional teacher, but...

i like the dress code. it's really easy to follow (so yeah, i am a girl) but still! i mean, guys have it easy in the sense they don't have to think about what they are wearing. for girls theres more options so it takes a couple second longer. in short: the dress code will not be an issue by any means.

I wear jeans to class EVERY day--the only days that I don't wear jeans, I'm wearing sweats. My wardrobe consists of eight pairs of jeans, seven pairs of sweats, three dress pants and loads of random shirts.
Button down shirts and cable knits are really common around here. And if you're a guy, please, PLEASE don't wear a polo and a tie. It's really tacky.

haha. i know. the polo/tie thing is funny. but it can get pretty hot at the begining/end of the yr. at least make sure they don't clash.

no shirts with print on them? oh well, shopping spree. like, half my wardrobe will be going to goodwill, at least it's for charity :) tax deductible, save parents some money

Haha, My birthday is 10 days before March 10th (Feb 28th FTW!) so we're postponing the celebrations/presents until we know if I'm going or not. If I am, then it's shopping spree for dress code clothes and dorm stuff! If not, then... Awesome presents otherwise.

i want a shopping spree even if i get rejected, i am a girl after all. lol

like the other day i went to nordstrom and tried on 30 pairs of jeans. was there for like 6 hours, i kept asking the sales lady to bring me new jeans. hope she wasnt mad that i kept bugging her. then my friends also went shopping so altogether, we probably asked her to get, about, 50-60 jeans. my friends are more...modest

Did you buy any?

yeaaa i bought 6 of them. they were on sale for about $55 each. plus i bought a brown northface and some foundation

Really? They never have clothes in my size. !!! What size are you?

currently size 1.
