Phillips Exeter Dress Code

interview was great this year, ive found myself a little bit more this year and that really showed and SSAT was great since i dont really pay attention in class. i socialize :)

I didn't mean to start anything with the $330 jeans comment... Yes, some people (and, in the boarding school realm, the majority) can spend that much. Many cannot. I can't, TomtheCat can't, but Senay can. That's her choice, yadda yadda, it means nothing :P It's money.
Tom, I don't think Senay's a brat. Senay, we're (lower?) middle class- you're not. "Regular shopping" and "sprees" will never equal $300+ expenditures, and to be frank, I am jealous. Who wouldn't want money to spend?
But I doubt people (the good kind of people) will look down on me for the clothes I wear. It's how you wear them, not where you got them.

I completely agree, Saer. Aspirational lower-middle class FTW! We're the ones who make boarding schools socioeconomically diverse =D

Haha if only I was a minority (not over-represented... Maybe Martian?) and from, like, Antarctica. I'd be such a commodity!

Well if you're a nice, interesting, and intelligent person than they really shouldn't care that you're not a freaking eskimo ;-)

I've been wearing the same pajama pants and sweater for 2 weeks working on my applications, sleeping, waking up, working on my applications, sleeping

KILL ME NOW

haaha rythern

tomthecat, if you were in my spot, you'd probably spend as much, maybe even more than i do.

id blow money on video games

thats just me cuz I'm a nerd

My mom still buys my clothes. She has great taste though.

lol rythern. video gamess........

thingslost,

i just usually get the sales people to pick my clothes and when i try them on i show my friends to see if they approve and if they are not there, which is rarely, i take pictures with the clothes on and text them to see if they like it

That's what I do when I'M actually shopping, but only if I'm in a hurry. I don't usually get my friends approval either... The best part about shopping is actually picking out the clothes. I'm not sure what my mom does, I think she picks them too. So you don't actually pick out your own clothes? Do you not trust your own taste in clothes? Or are you just in a hurry/lazy?

....Where did all this come from lol. No one cares if your filthy rich, in case somehow you can't tell, your posts are coming across as very pretentious. Just wanted to tell you, but I'm sure you know...I mean your are applying to some of the top schools in the world you can't not be smart.

But ya I think it's cool and everything, just kind of unnecessary spending if you ask me lol. And I'm not poor either...

mpicz, I didn't realize my posts were coming across as pretentious. All I said was that my mom picks out my clothes, and I like to look for my own clothes... :/

hmm i can pick out clothes by myself but i choose not to. i find walking around the store tiring so i just ask something specific to the saleslady.

im usually "hi, im looking for skinny jeans size 1. can you find me some?" then i go wait in the dressing room. i love the service at nordstrom. there's always one employee for one customer so an employee gives you all her attention.

frankly i just dont want to bother with picking out my own clothes, im just too lazy for that.

I can relate to that. Sometimes I just wish all the clothes I would potentially like could just fly to me! :D Maybe a special pair of glasses that automatically highlights clothes in my size that it thinks I would like. It would be awesome to design something like that.

plus i get headaches for some reason. department stores are like public buses to me, makes you sleepy, cranky, gives you headaches, and sometimes gets you nauseous. but when you get home, you're all better :)

Senay, I think you should be considerate of other people who may not shop at department stores like Nordstroms.

oh i didnt say anything bad to them just cause they dont shop there
