shopping is a hobby of mine just like texting and aiming. lots of teenagers do it. at my school, it's normal to go to the mall once a week

j. crew, brooks brother, ralph lauren. the issue with that is that my teachers and parents wear that crap. i refuse to wear anything that adults think are "cool". if they think it's cool, it automatically becomes uncool for me.

about the 40 jeans, it's not like i bought them all at once. it adds up from the bi-weekly trips to the mall. it's like buying one pair of jeans every two weeks for a year.

Senay, one pair of jeans every two weeks for a year is STILL excessive.

and nothing tacky from A&F. they do have some stuff that looks good. I wore a navy seater from there to my interview. you could barely even tell it was A&F because the little moose was navy as well.

some of my normal semi-casual clothes would be from Banana Republic or J. Crew or Ann Talyor. Not excessively expensive, but still nice-looking.

I looove shopping, love love love it. But as far as shopping spreees go, I seriously can't even imagine what I could get for one hundred anywhere. I am such a bargain hunter. I can't bring myself to buy a shirt for more than ten dollars. Prowling the thrift stores and sales racks...that's where I belong, lol!

I have clothes I wear to speech tournaments and then clothes I wear on regular days, but I have pretty eclectic tastes; everything from casual dressy to downright bum.

Aww... thanks principalviola!! Macs are just so beautiful!!! I've always wanted one, and I think I'll go with the white one, or the new aluminum, if I decide to purchase a Mac for BS. Thanks for your input though, I will think about it. I guess if I don't end up making as much money as I hope to, I'll go with a PC. However, I have a lot of tutoring jobs booked for the summer, and hopefully I will make enough money...

I've always wanted to volunteer in a hospital!! Seriously, every place (homeless shelters, animal shelters, hospices, children's hospitals, food pantries...) I applied to turned me down, because I was too young. I finally got a spot in a nursing home though, for which I am really grateful. It was the only place that didn't ask for my age! I socialize with the residents and serve them hard liquor (Really! Weird, isn't it?) every Thursday.

I love how you keep referring to Senay as a "he!!" By now, I think we are all pretty sure she's a she... or is he/she?

I guess that this thread is intended more for females than males...

yeh, i though this was more about like ties and khakis and yeh we have a mall in our town, so im set. i can walk to the mall. Pac Sun, Zummies... i hate abercrombie people, idc if girls where it , but boys wearing it is just stupid, same with hollister or all those other stupid companies. it should be polos, skate stuff, or sports stuff.

and senay dont say cool and uncool, you sound like this thing called a toooooll hahaha... in my town, no one would talk to you.

HAHA. Tool. That's funny. In my town, she would fit right in.

i dont judge, but my town is critical with looks and everything, it sucks... i got lucky though, kids respect me because i help them study =)

Yeah, same. Where I go to school, if you don't wear the same thing as everyone else, [ex. American Eagle, Abercrombie, Hollister, blah blah blah], you're pretty much an outcast. My school is a bunch of clones, lol. If you listen to a different kind of music, or have different views from everyone, you're pretty much hated. (I live in like the 2nd most republican county in the nation) You can only imagine the fun I have there! XD

mines the opposite, my county is the richest county in the richest state, but everyone is a democrat? i thought people who had lots of money hated democrats because they tax them more to pay for other peoples healthcare... me and this other kid who walk to the high school for math are the only two republicans in my school.

Haha, that must be awkward. What schools are you applying to?

At my school, if you take academics seriously, don't sag your pants, and don't think Jay-Z is the epitome of musical experiences, you are the minority.

same here! i loveee jay-z though. beyonce and him make such a greattttt couple <3

hmm regarding the no one would talk to me, im actually one of those people that fit in everywhere i go.

we30 i thought Orange County was the richest county. Anyways whoever wears abercrombie and fitch, hollister, etc. are complete TOOLs to me. They all conform to society and they do not follow their own style. If they're style is to wear polos that are brightly colored than kudos for you. If you are conforming to everyone's beliefs and ideals. TOOL academy for you

Ex. Obey, Nike Sbs, DUNKS, STUSSY, LRG, are for me. (:

and jay-z is not the epitome of hiphop if you think so, I would think you just listen to mainstream hiphop(whcih has turned so wrong). Rappers rhyming about cars, sex, and girls trying to be all cool when they can't even do the stuff they talk about. EX. SOULJA BOY.

Old school hip hop (Rakim, N.W.A., Outkast, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Sugarhill gang, Public Enemy) was and forever will be the high point of hiphop.

RIP TUPAC and BIGGIE.

Lol I don't care how much you hate mainstream hip-hop (which I hate also). But jay z is not what mainstreamers listen to. They listen to soulja boy and all the crap groups that come out every other week in atlanta.

and I kind of wear the same stuff as u TIGER lol. I don't really care what anyone else wears though. I could careless...therefore there not "tools" to me.

"I don't really care what anyone else wears though. I could careless...therefore there not "tools" to me." --mpicz

Mpicz, I certainly hope that, wherever my son ends up, the students in leadership positions are more like you than others on this thread.

I came to this thread thinking it was dress code information and...whoa! As a parent, it's distressing to see how judgemental so many students are about people they don't know based solely on the clothes they wear and/or the music they listen to. I shudder to think the reaction some might have to race, gender, religion, political leanings and other truly meaningful differences.

My kids couldn't care less about "labels". They couldn't care less what they or anyone else wears--I can't even pay them to go shopping. As long as it's soft and doesn't have scratchy tags in the back, they will wear it. Abercrombie happens to make AMAZINGLY soft t-shirts and polos that one can purchase on clearance for 9.99. Buckle and other stores with less traditional styles carry a few brands that are as soft as Abercrombie (and many of them are 'tagless'!). But they don't frequently have great sales and I'm not really into paying 40 bucks for a kid's t-shirt. Since it's easy for me to go to Abercrombie, pick up soft shirts at a more reasonable price than Wal-Mart (which means about 50% of their shirts are from Abercrombie), and my son will wear anything he sees that's soft and clean, he is now a "Tool"?

And if a kid is the clean cut, relaxed, preppy type--at a PREP school--he is a "Tool"?

As a prospective boarding school parent and newbie to CC, this board is a much more frightening place than my son's inner city high school. Wow... Your views seem to be somewhat out of sync with the focus on "Diversity" so many schools seem to be seeking. I certainly hope that you aren't representative of the majority view, wherever my son ends up. Frightening...

soccerrocker23-im applying to Exeter, Andover, Choate , and St Pauls.

to the rest of you.. yeh i kinda just wear whatever i think looks good. i try not to pay attention to company, but on somedays i look liek im sponsored by DC skating haha. i have lots of DC clothes.. alittle hurley... im not a tight jean wearing skater, but i do like some of the random cmpanies liek AVAC and just random shirts with abstract art on them.

TIGER- orange county is the richest county in the US... if you look at my words it says "richest county in the richest state"... my county is the richest in my state and my state is the richest in the country... orange county has more money, but california overall doesnt make more money per person. actually the welathiest county is this gated community of 5 houses in southern florida that considers themselves a county... its literally like 5 people that are millionaires that live in the middle of nowhere on the beach... its called jupiter lane. i believe.
