PHL 104 Critical Thinking

Can anyone provide some insight on this class. Son has the option of taking it with Prof. Horton or taking UH 201 Classics and Western culture with Prof. Ulmer (a spot opened up this week). Son had originally planned on taking UH 201 because it interested him, but it was filled when he did BB, so he and his adviser came up with the Critical Thinking class, which son thinks would also be interesting.

I don’t know either prof.

Critical thinking or Deductive Logic (honors or non-honors) are good classes to take. I strongly recommend Deductive Logic (especially with Wrenn or Alter…not with Rachels).

Thanks m2ck. I think it is going to be a tough choice for him. We have heard good things about the Classics and Western Culture and Prof. Ulmer is pretty highly rated on ratemyprof. On the other hand, son likes logic/critical thinking, but can’t find anything on Prof. Horton.
