Phone Call

I received a phone call today from a current student at Indiana. She was part of some sort of Kelley School of Business program, and wanted to congradulate my acceptance, and was wondering if I had any questions. I thought it was great that Indiana has a program like this, and is making the extra step to make myself feel comfortable with my decision.

It was weird. I got into talking to her, as I told her that I pretty much knew a bunch, and we talked about schools. She applied to UMich, UWisc-Madison, UMiami, all schools i'm considering too! Was an accounting major (senior) from Georgia, but said she was glad she went north and got out of Georgia.

Anyways, she said she thought the business school was the gem of the school. That it was recognized nationally and thought she was getting a great (albeit tough) education. Thought her classes in the B-school were much harder than general ed classes.

About dorms - she was in Eingemann freshman year, liked central campus. Said there was one just "bad" dorm - McNutt! I told her I wanted to go there, asked why it was "bad" and she said it's just non-stop partying!!! I don't see much of a problem there ;)

Said to visit the campus, it's truly beautiful and exactly how it looks in the photos you see. Doesn't matter if it's winter or summer, it's great, and she loves it.

Anyways, just basically confirming stuff that I had already known, but it was nice to know that IU cares and has current students call your house. Maybe that's cause I was accepted into the B-school already, but it was nice nonetheless.

DS got the same phone call. University of Iowa also called him, and Ohio State U. called him to tell him he was accepted before the packet even arrived. I think this is good marketing.
