Ya so I lurked around here for a while and then couldn't take it anymore. I was admitted SCEA and just got an email about phone calls coming up this week. I think this would be a good thread to get some ideas out about what to ask.

I think I'll ask about SLE, girls, maybe full moon on the quad if the person I'm talking to is chill enough... you guys?

I'll prob ask about what activities they're doing, and how to figure out what of the 600 clubs I want to join. I've already decided against SLE lol

Clubs! I completely forgot about all the ECs available. And SLE, I've investigated it thoroughly already and am like 99% against it but I'm still keeping an open mind.

I had no idea that they were making phone calls! That's kinda cool :)
I knew there was an upcoming "chat session" in the next month or so...

Is it students that call then? I'm assuming so if FMOTQ is something you would ask about, haha. I would probably ask about food too, what dorm rooms are like (I haven't visited yet, but I will Admit Weekend), and how often kids can go into San Francisco (Palo Alto isn't as exciting).

It said students were making the calls, I'm pretty sure. San Francisco is a good hour trip each way, its not like a monring stopover. There's nothing restricting a student from going there though, besides classes I guess. You can go in your free time, I just think it would be a pain in the ass to go often.

Were we supposed to get anything about housing yet? My thought would be of course not, seeing that they don't even know who will be attending yet, but just making sure.

Yep it's students making the calls. There was an email floating around campus last week that you could sign up for that. When I was a profro last year I got someone who only talked for two minutes because I didn't know what was going on and didn't ask anything, but apparently my roommate talked to her person for an hour. Definitely ask about FMOTQ and anything else you can think of. San Francisco is a bit of a pain but if you have time for a day trip you can definitely go. But like I said, you have to have a few hours free to get there and back and most students schedule their time so tight they don't usually have a few hours free. It's certainly doable. I went to San Francisco at least 3 times last quarter but they were all scheduled in advance.

^ The email I received stated that the calls would start on the 2nd and continue through the 5th (except Wednesday night). I also received a call last night.

The second time they called I told them I had just talked to someone last night and that I didn't really have any other questions, so that wasn't really a conversation. The last night though I had a really nice girl call, she's sophomore I think pursuing an English major. AP Lit has taught me to truly hate English, so no our academic interests didn't coincide. Come to think of it, none of our interests really did. She was in a Vietnamese dance club and a Catholic religious group, I'm no into ethnic things really at all and I'm certainly not religious. There was still plenty to talk about though.

For me, I didn't answer the call, because I thought it was a telemarketer, so my parents answered. I'm pretty sure that it didn't say Stanford University on the caller id though, because if it did, I would've answered immediately! Anyway, the girl who called me was really chill, really nice, she was a Human Biology major, and I'm interested in getting my pre-med requirements (even though I think I want to major in Physics), so that was helpful. Other than that, we blended pretty well, I asked about food, housing, social life, San Francisco, time management, SLE, IHUM, professors, sports games, and so on... I asked a lot more about social life though, because I think that's an important part to moving and living somewhere.

I got my call today and the number started with 1-650... I believe... It was a really friendly conversation. I talked to a junior girl that was majoring in international relations. She was cool to talk to and was able to answer all of my questions with great detail.

Xzibit, I'm sure that if they called others twice that they may try to contact you again tomorrow

Maybe stanford wants to seduce the guys into going...hahha...or maybe they just had time open in there schedules while the guys were partying or something...LOL
