Hi, through some of my activities i get to meet influential people. Want to get CCs opinion on including some photos with these ppl on my apps.
Thanks.
It’s what you do with the activities that matters, not who you got a photo op with.
I don’t ever recall seeing a place to include a photo on an application. Couldn’t you work this into an essay instead?
I did, just kind of something I think represents my learning. Wanted to get some opinions. Thank you for response
And some schools allow a google drive docs for anything else Id like to show
bodangles- I understand, just think some schools might find it cool that Im at a dinner with Joe Biden and federal reserve governors.
College admissions officers are swamped. They are not looking for photo confirmation of things you have done. The pictures are wonderful keepsakes but don’t belong on a college application.
Anyone with money can also get a dinner with a lots of influential people. It’ll do nothing to help your application, because that picture shows nothing about your skills or accomplishments, and doesn’t tell a story about who you are or what you can do.
Let the focus be on the cool things you’ve actually accomplished. Breathing the same air as a famous person isn’t something you put on a resume, but whatever you did that qualified you to go to that dinner probably would be.
It won’t do you a lick of good. You are not the world leader, you are just standing with them for a photo. If you have awards or accomplishments that got you in their presence, that is what you should be putting in your application.
“Anyone with money can also get a dinner with a lots of influential people.”
Exactly. I think that this would make it look like you think that you are special because a parent has money. Also, anyone who bothered to show up at political rally’s in New Hampshire or other small swing states or early primary states during this past election cycle could shake Bill Clinton’s or some other politician’s hand. This might be cool, and I would hold onto the photo, but I wouldn’t put it into a university application.
If your activities are deserving, then your essay and list of ECs and references will make the point.
Thank you for the reply.
anxiousenior1- none of these things cost money, simply through establishing connections. Also, I’m a financial aid recipient and have my application fees waived. Money is not the reason here.
Including a pic like these could hurt.
You should know why, as part of your understanding of what your targets look for.
