Thanks.

Thanks.

Not when you weight 220.

My daughter had an easy A in one PE class.

Fun. I’ve done step aerobics and yoga, and enjoyed both of them quite a bit. It made it easier to stay in shape. If you are worried that you may not make it to every class, it may be a good idea to take it pass/no pass. Then you don’t have to worry to much about your grade.

If you are paying $1200 per unit like me, you should take that money and get yourself a gym membership at the Downtown LA Athletic Club www.laac.com
:D

@Moss, LAAC looks kind of expensive are there any other less expensive gyms near USC that you know of?

Lyon center on campus

The LAAC membership is around $100/mo if anyone is curious.

edit: I just saw this in la magazine. its a new gym in the toy factory lofts in downtown la. $60

SC students are very lucky to be so close to the downtown LA right now. amazing progress has been made in revitalizing the LA culture. Take the F dash and explore downtown LA if you guys get a chance!

Yes, there are plenty of ways to work out, but your tuition gives you 18 credits, and most people only use 16 for their regular classes. You might as well take advantage of those extra units!

@moss, thanks for the information. LAAC is not as expensive as I imagined. Is the Lyon Center a good place to work out or would you recommend joining an off campus gym instead?
@Nikara. Great point about the extra 2 units. Are the phys ed courses usually 1 or 2 unit classes?

The Lyon center is pretty good. They have all of the basic workout equipment. Sometimes it can be pretty busy, but I haven’t ever had to wait long to use any equipment. There are ellipticals, bikes, rowing machines, stair climbers, treadmills, plenty of free weights and weight machines, a stretching area, raquetball courts, a group exesize room, a small climbing wall, a basketball court, and a large pool. There’s probably more, but I’m not remembering it all at the moment. I would definitely check it out before signing up for another gym. Also, if you don’t want to use units, you can always pay for specific classes. Here are some relevant links:

One class I do recommend is Self Defense. It’s pretty fun and you learn a lot of cool stuff. But it’s not a guaranteed A.

Thanks Nikara and cynicalowl!

Hmm, sounds good, I was looking into Tennis, Volleyball and possibly Conditioning. Next semester will be a little hectic with class and work so I guess I’ll take a couple next, next semester. Thanks guys.

Weight training with Steve (Vankanegan…sp?) was a lot of fun. He helps you to personalize your program and is always happy to answer questions. And he’s really great when showing you how to use all the free weights and stuff downstairs.
I also took Yoga but I picked a teacher who was more focused on power yoga whereas I prefer meditative yoga.
You can also audit the classes so you don’t have to worry about taking tests and when midterms/finals come around, you don’t have to stress about missing classes.
