Physics AP Credit

So I ended up getting a 5 on Physics C Mechanics (dont ask me how haha), but it says on the ap credit site one has to also sign up for the .5 cu lab that goes along with the class. If i don't take this lab, will this physics credit not count for anything?

You’ll get credit for phys 093 (I think that’s the number), which is equivalent to phys 140. Whether or not that’s good enough for credit for you depends on your major (most engineering majors, for example, require you to take a half-credit lab-only course to make it equivalent to the full phys 150 that most people take)

Matt, you said in another thread that the standalone lab courses can be very tough. What are your thoughts on the PHYS 050 lab?

the phys 050 and 051 labs are the ones people are usually talking about when they mention standalone labs. they’re extremely rigorous, which for most people means a lot of work and frustration in doing lab reports.

it’s by no means the hardest class at penn, but if you’re doing the lab by itself it can be annoying since your peers or lab group may not care that much about the report since it’s only a small fraction of their grade
