So I took the practice tests provided by College Board (they are only 23 questions long). I got a 16/23 in Chemistry and a 15/23 in Physics. (This included the .25 per wrong question point reduction.)

I did a simple 16/23=x/85 conversion for my Chemistry raw score of approximately 60, which is a 690.

I did a simple 15/23=x/75 conversion for my Physics raw score of 49, which is a 730.

The funny thing is that I took Physics honors, NOT AP and am currently taking AP Chem (in addition to Chem Scholars soph year) and I am still scoring higher on the Physics test.

Given that I will study hard for either, the curves of each test, etc., which do you think I should take?

Are you a senior or junior? If you're a junior, I would take Chemistry SAT II in May, around AP testing time. If you're a senior, I don't know what you should do. I guess go with the subject that you feel most comfortable in. Physics has one of the best curves but I also heard Chemistry has a pretty decent curve as well.

Physics has a real nice curve, chemistry's is ok.

Given my scores of 800 on both: Chem I'd say is like 5/10 for difficultly, physics more like 9/10 imho (only Literature and foreign languages get 10/10)

Chemistry is much much easier to study for and get 750+ than physics. I'd do Chemistry!

Damn. Mixed reviews.
No, I am a senior.
Sophn yr: Chem Scholars
Junior yr: Physics Honors (but decently hard)
Senior yr: Chem AP (it's a JOKE. i have learned nearly nothing)

I would definitely go with chem.
It's definitely easier to score higher on chem with some prep materials. the curve's not bad either. And I agree with Alone.^

Well, the thing about the Chemistry test that threw me off were the T/T/CE questions, I'm sure I missed a few. Also, when I took the test, one of the first sections (the ones where you have a bunch of questions and a bunch of answers) had to do with lab equipment which I was totally clueless about. Finally, they had questions about like environmental stuff or stuff I never heard about. I ended up getting a 720, but I still would've wished I got a 800.

I always thought i was better at chemistry than physics but when I did the practice tests I found the chem test to be really difficult. I think it's harder to study for and the T/F/CE section is pretty easy to mess up on. That being said, I do IB Chemistry and IB Physics, so I'm not sure whether our curriculum really corresponds to the SAT content (like the AP curriculum might?). I did physics in the end and got 780 which I'm happy with. I think in the end you're probably the best judge of what you are more comfortable with. Maybe do more practice tests?
