phySUCKS 8A Final!!!!!!!!

about what percentage of the test (7 questions on final) do you think will be straight out of mastering physics? vs workbook vs lecture problems???

!gracias!

this was by far the worst organized class I have ever taken. That exam average better be low…

yeah ive given up on averages being low for lec 2-i wish i were in section 1 they have LOWWWW averages and theyre tests are always easier too, dammit. i dont know how the hell that works out to being fair

it looks like in previous years, the avg is around 144/200 on the final. ■■■

i don’t think i’ll be able to hit 100. **** me.

exams easier in lec 1 are you kidding me? i’m in lec 2 and i found both our exams very fair and doable, but looking at lec 1s stuff freaks me out.

^^how much do you think will be from Mastering? i basicaly have an empty workbook in spite of regular attendance at discussion because my gsi was very disorganized in his teaching style so i never wrote anything down

so basically, im praying like >/= 75% is from MP…

i doubt many at all. if our last few midterms are any indication, in which we had only 1/4 from mp, then i’d assume that AT MOST we’ll have 2/7.

dude…I’m in section 1, the tests are NOT easier–everyone in my discussion wants to be in section 2, lol…but at least we’re done. The final was actually pretty manageable, but nothing recognizable except 1 wrksht problem we never actually covered. oh well…

are you serious? no midterm problems?

i actually hope ours is similar in that we don’t have things from before. that way, i think the problems will be a bit more fair and it will separate people who actually learned the material from those who just spent all their time memorizing/copying mastering physics. that’s what i liked about our last midterm (mt2 for lec 2), because you had to think but definitely could come up with answers. i did better on mt2 than mt1, by far.

yeah, it was pretty much like that–nothing from MP, more focus on the concepts. He did include a derivative from class though, but nothing u couldn’t figure out on your own.

that’s good to hear. thanks! do you have any tips/suggestions for last minute things to go over? i’ve reviewed the practice exams, some of the more challenging mastering physics problems, and flipping through the workbook.

hm…i’d say, any of the really big things that he derived in class (like relating T to Q in the efficiency equation, ideal gas law, etc…), im pretty sure he’s going to put that on. he also put a lot of conservation of momentum/energy on our final, but nothing too bad. i’d also definitely go over buoyancy, he mixed that with ideal gas law, but as long as you understood (read: know how it works, not how to do the MP problem on it) it, it was pretty easy. I’d check the wrksht section on buoyancy here. There wasn’t a lot of oscillation/waves, just 1 really straightforward (though LONG) problem that was a lot like the pendulum problem from the sat. review.

overall: the big problems from lecture, make sure u really understand at least the basics of the recent stuff (seriously, just knowing what terms like the period mean will cover you), and the review problems. i think about 3-4 problems were new material and everything else old.

oh yeah, and there was extra credit :D

time to create the cheat sheet. ■■■

black hat - thanks for the info. i think im just going to reread the last few lectures incl thermodynamics. i’m pretty sure our exam will be quite different, as usual. hopefully less deriving things and more applying, persay.

blaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

haha, true. this final was really different from our midterms though, a lot more like your midterms, from what ive seen. Though, LOTS of complaining about it after, so i guess our low average won’t be changing :D

Jesus BH, you must have done well…i thought it was a bit more challenging than the past 2 MTs (which i did pretty okay on)

god, i am tired.

i give up. i’m failing that final for serious. i can’t remember jack and my mind is full of ochem.
