I like when these threads pop up...

Intermediate level or something (past level four in the bastien books.

Working on Fur Elise (full version) and Bach's Invention 1.

MTAC
I passed all ten levels, so I'm moving on to Panel.

I have a bunch of pieces, but my hardest piece is Petrouchka: The Russian Dance by Stravinsky.

eh,

NYSSMA level 6 two years ago,
with the oh so typical Chopin's C# minor whatsits.

Sounds like...
duuun! dun dun dun dun dun dun dun..
dun dun dun dun dun dun..

o_o right.

Well,
now I'm working (again) on my favorite piece on piano,
Chopin's Fantasia Impromptu :D

ABRSM, going to be tested on Grade 8 in November.

I'm working the Grade 8 stuff. So yea, its boring, mostly scales and whatnot.

Petrouchka rocks!

^ Haha. It's so complicated, but I guess it's worth the effort to challenge myself.

when did you all start?

Polyrhythms confuse me, and I don't even play piano hahah. I really enjoyed playing the The Shrovetide Fair with my symphony.

I CAN PLAY FANTASIE IMPROMPTU!!! they best composer is chopin xP

How do piano levels work? What level would be considered really good?

It depends. I learn from a private teacher, so the levels she uses are a lot different from the levels others use.

I've been taking lessons for 10 years, but I didn't really enjoy it or try much at it until recently.

Uh? Not sure what all this level stuff is about.

I played piano for about 10 years, taught myself Southern gospel/church music, and how to play 12 bar blues, etc., by listening to others mostly.

But, I thought I'd be smart and start classical training. Ugh! Although I'm starting to enjoy it now. I'm working on two pieces for competition in March, "Watch My Fingers Rock!" (gotta get the jazz in there) and CPE Bach's Solfeggio in C Minor (and Dm...and Fm...)

well im not familiar with NYSSMA...but in the World Piano Competition I was level 12, which is the highest available. Right now I'm playing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 hoping to play with some symphonies soon.

WOW You must be good! Can i listen to one of your recordings????

i love playing contemporary music... the stuff that makes people say, "oooh man thats sweet"

I play a lot of classical and romantic music, with some contemporary pieces here and there. It's been more than ten years now.

The system of piano levels differs from one association to another. By the time a student has passed all of the levels, he or she is a pretty decent piano player.

thelittleone, Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1 is unbelievable! Glad to hear that you're playing it hahah

I like The Shrovetide Fair as well - more than the Russian Dance, actually.

thelittleone: Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 is awesome. You must be a piano prodigy. I love the first movement. The whole thing is like what, like 35 minutes long? I've only played concertos by Saint-Sa

got damn uguys are advanced btw ive only been playing three years buti am stilladvanced guess i a fast learner
