Is Pick-A-Prof worth the monthly payment? At UT, is the teacher who gives the best grades necessarily the best teacher? I appreciate everyone's opinions, but if you have used pick-a-prof to set up your class schedules, then I especially would love to hear your take on its effectiveness. Also, is there a page on UT's site that has a list of the teachers and the classes they teach?

ratemyprofessors.com is just as good. the only problem is they don’t have grade histories. personally i use both.

yea, I’ve been to ratemyprofessors, but the site never shows which specific class each teacher lectures so I have no idea which teachers to look for.

I feel pickaprof has been well worth the money. It has reviews as well as the grade distribution. Using both, you can make wise decisions about the courses you select. For courses I have to take and will not have a follow up course, I take the easiest ones. For the ones in my major or ones where I will have courses which build on previous knowledge, I read the reviews to see which professors are acknowledged by students as being great teachers of the subject. It can save you from some surprises, and that to me was worth the $10 a year or whatever it was.

yes pickaprof is a good place to invest your money. this small investment can give you a big gain in the future.

What would happen if someone chooses the easier professor (one that gives the most number of As/easiest tests/easy work) for every class even in one’s major? I will most likely major in biology or chemistry but what would happen if I chose easy professors my first year just to get use to the college environment? I plan on being at UT only 2 years for undergraduate because I want to do pharmacy.

bulletman: im not sure what your asking. but i can tell you that even if you take professors who give a lot of A’s, you still need to study and not get carried away thinking you will get an A.

Also, sometimes the professors who give out a lot of A’s are the professors who explain well so everyone understands the material.

i paid for half a year of pick a prof for this fall…a lot of reviews tell you if they teach well or not, if you should take the teacher for the easy A, etc…

and pickaprof has most of the professors at UT already on there, so just choose your class and see

does pick-a-prof tell you the specific class that the teachers teach? cause if I do use it, I don’t want to have to look at every single teacher just to find the few that teaches the classes that I’ll take. just like ratemyprofessors, I have no idea which teachers to look at because all it mentions is just ‘Engineering’, not ‘calculus’ or anything

well lets say you need to take intro to electrical engineering which is EE302 or somthing…

you type that class in, it shows you all the professors that teach that and you can look at reviews, grades, and ratings from there…

If you go to a community college pick-a-prof is free.

Some of the reviews have the class listed to the left of the review. Some do not. It is more of a recent thing. Other than that, sometimes the reviews mention the class when it is not listed on the side. I wish every listing had the course to the side but that seems to be something that was added after the site started.

I paid for it at ACC. When it expired, it would not let me access again until I paid again. How do you access for free?

Hmmm for me it was free. I go to a Dallas Community College and can see grades from all professors in that school district.
