Pick Ups

I was just wondering if one of the cadets could tell me if there is many pick up games at the Academy?

I would like to play ice hockey, but not at a collegiate level. So I was wondering if they had a type of club or pickup type of games for ice hockey since you guys got that great ice rink there.

Thanks for your help…

From what I have heard, intermural sports are required or at the very least very popular at the academy.

I assume that Ice Hockey would be included.

Intermural's are required.

Ice hockey is not an intramural. Although I don't have first-hand knoweldge of it, I'm pretty sure there is a club that would allow you to play.

Fencing is another, though I will warn those who have not fenced...serious fencing can be tough, and very time-consuming. But its one of the best dang sports ever.

not alot of pick up games... but alot of club teams you can join... intermurals while required don't last too long only about a month or so... usually over by the last week of oct.

There are spring intramurals also.

The ice hockey club got disbanded after some sort of problem (I forget what it was, but I think it involved alcohol). All of the official clubs have to go through some sort of approval process and can be dissbanded and finacial support withdrawn by whatever authority is in charge of that stuff (as you can tell, I don't really know much about this stuff). I think they are trying to get the hockey club going again, so maybe by the time you get here, you'll be able to play on it.

Do you (or any other cadets for that matter) know about RATTEX? They are the auditorium technicians/entertainment support for all gigs at the academy. My theatre techie roots are tingling when i heard about them. But no information and the blue bards web site hadent been updated in a while.
