Pictures of Dorms

Hi, I'm looking for pictures of the dorms at Michigan to help better visualize what I'll have to work with. I'm aware of these pictures:
Room Type Gallery | University Housing

Is anyone aware of any other picture/video tours online?

I personally have an 11x14 double in Bursley.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, Umich redesigned its housing website last year, and while prettier, the new one is not anywhere near as helpful as the old one, which had virtual tours, lots of images, etc.
I called housing about it three times now - over the last several months - and they continue to say the will be updating the website. However, as recently as this weekend, they explained that they did not “own” the virtual tours and the company that did them went out of business.
I think some enterprising student should offer to show the good folks at housing how easy it is to integrate a third-party virtual tour/floor plan system ; )

So, why don’t you call them and let them know the new website is lacking. I think kids should be able to get a running start on mapping their rooms and there is no reason why one should pay in excess of $11,000 for a single and NOT be able to view a diagram of the darned room in advance.

So there’s my rant. Good luck, umich14 ;)

Sure would have made sofa shopping easier. :P

Yes, Ema. BTW, have you discovered yet that for some bizarre reason you can’t actual order the SOLSTA online at Ikea? Or pre-order it from the Canton store. For some completely perverse reason, Ikea has elected not to ‘capture’ the lucrative UMich market of 40,000 students – to my mind, a tad short-sighted. So if you want the Solsta, you will have to go to the Canton store in person to purchase it and hope that one is in stock. Alternately, you can purchase and schedule it for dorm delivery (but only in person) for a min. $69. if you don’t have transportation. Just a heads up.
Cheers,
K

I didn’t even try to buy it online, the cost of shipping took it out of my price range. I live super close to the Canton ikea so we took the cushion out of the backseat of my dad’s focus when he wasn’t looking, took the sofa out of the box, and crammed it in there. I’ll have a truck for move in so I think I’m set. I wonder why you can’t buy it online, that does seem like a big mistake. They had 45 in stock as of this past weekend.

You can find residence hall floorplans for all of the rooms by viewing the wireless
location maps. The link is at <a href=“Website Offline / U-M Information and Technology Services”>Website Offline / U-M Information and Technology Services; Just click on your residence hall and then locate your floor. Hope it helps!

Mack, you are my hero. That is awesome. I don’t know why housing doesn’t seem to know about this, but thanks ever so much!
Cheers,
K

KMC- I’m glad it helped. Could you look at the futon thread- I had a question
for you about the modular furniture lofting configurations. Thanks!
