I just got my acceptance today…when will they send a letter regarding merit scholarships?

I submitted my application and received an email asking for my fall SAT’s. Hopefully I can improve my scores and get in!

@Hailtopitt1787 - can you clarify something for me. I submitted my application through Special Status and was told that admissions wanted to wait until my fall SAT scores were in to make a decision. I did not send in any letters of recommendation with my original application because I couldn’t see where to send them plus my high school teachers were not available over the summer. Could I send in those letters now since my application will not be looked at again until October? Thanks!

@quarkee55 yes, you may send recommendation letters. Best way is to have your teachers email the letters to oafa@pitt.edu.

Is it better to apply now and update ACT later or just wait for the next score and apply. Scores are ok now but trying to Improve for the sake of scholarship.

@scholarme - I am not getting your point 3. I thought the supplemental info is recommended if you want to be considered honors and should be submitted together with the app? and 2) why does it have to sent in BEFORE transcript and scores? They are not going to review until all info is received?

Hi @FromMD
From what I understand, when they have all your required items, they will go ahead and review it for admission, without waiting for optional items.
But you are right, you can still send in optional items before they start reviewing for scholarships (Nov1?).
I think HailtoPitt would have better info.

@scholarme - thank you. I didn’t think about the possiblity of someone sending in supplemental info last after sending in general app, scores, LOR, and transcript first.

@FromMD that would be my kid - her LORs are still not ready. :(

@scholarme - Mine’s not any better, sigh…

Yes I was always under the impression that once Pitt has the transcripts, test scores, and the application then the application is considered ready to go. If you want to be considered for merit then the extras ( resume, letters of rec) should be added in before the application is considered complete. It was also mentioned here that most of the focus is placed on the transcript and test scores. I love Pitt but I found their application process to be a bit difficult to understand in terms of how the " extras" may or may not play a role. Nevertheless its a great school!!

In this yrs electronic app, there is a section to tell Admissions what supplemental extras are going to be sent to them separately. That is an improvement over years past where they could act on a file before you got every piece into them.
