Housing for freshmen is pretty straightforward. Pay deposit, figure out meal plan, put several housing choices in order of preference, in case you don’t get your first choice. Request a roommate if you have someone in mind.
@hailtopitt1787 I was put on Pitt’s waitlist awhile back, and I know it’s past May 1st now so they should be looking at the list. Do you know when I should expect to hear back from them by?
@hailtopitt1787 I completed the Dietrich online orientation on Thursday of last week, and my holds have still not been lifted, while others who have completed the orientation days after me have had their holds lifted in less than a day. I’m really frustrated and just want to officially enroll please help!
@rtsoccer, It should be soon! You will hear by June 1 at the latest.
@outtahere2017, Please contact the advising office for the Dietrich School directly. They should be able to assist you!
They can be reached at 412-624-6444.

@hailtopitt1787 Hi. I am aware that incoming freshman are starting to receive emails for course registrations. Are the emails going out by how quickly you registered for pittstart? I registered early this week, when should I expect to be able to begin picking my classes?
@sitg349, it actually depends on the academic school you are entering (arts and sciences, engineering, business, or nursing). Each one has a slightly different approach and they manage that process. You can find a lot more information that is specific to the school you are entering on PittStart.pitt.edu.

Does Pitt give any need based grants to instate students? We have an EFC of 0 and didn’t receive anything but the Pell and PHEAA grants. He applied in December. I’ve seen OOS people post about grants.
I am not sure. Did he get a work study?
He did. He got $5500 in loans too. I just thought as a single mom with a really low income he might qualify for
more. It looked like some people on here got pride awards and I was wondering what the qualifications for that were.
@mommech My EFC is 0 and I applied a month before the scholarship/award deadline in December. After I was accepted, I asked Pitt about the Panther Pride award and was told that the money had already been handed out. And from years prior, Pitt seems to favor out-of-state students when dispersing the Panther Pride award.
However, this year, I’ve only seen a small handful of students receive full-tuition scholarships and small awards like the Panther Pride Award. It looks like Pitt went overboard with the scholarships last year and severely cut back on us this year.
To the ones that are seeing “Admitted”, when did you apply? We haven’t heard anything yet …
@nervousnellymom This is last year’s thread. No acceptances this year yet. @hailtopitt1787 has posted on the other thread a pretty good indicator of when you will start seeing results. Good luck. FYI - my daughter ended up at Pitt and is loving it. I highly recommend it for those of you considering Pitt.
Hi @nervousnellymom ! I have copied the link for the Pitt Class of 2022 thread for you. Enjoy!
Thank you!
Awesome to hear, my son received his acceptance letter last week!
