I am very concerned about getting accepted into Pitt main's school of nursing. I hear that it's really hard to get into. Please enlighten me on my chances of getting in or what I can do to have a better chance at getting in.
GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1100 Math: 570 Reading: 530
I am involved in many many extracurricular activities and I'm a very well rounded person. My resume is extremely long and i'm involved in numerous activities. Please just give me some hope or something!
Thanks!!

Your GPA is the average for a nursing applicant but unfortunately, your SAT score is a little low, each year the averages have been going up and it has been getting harder to get into the nursing program. When did you apply? Pitt has rolling admission so therefore a lot of students mail in their application early September. You could call admissions and they should be able to give you the status of your application. Good luck!!

I have yet to apply because I am only a Junior. I plan to take the SATs 1 or 2 more times. So should I apply as early as I can then??

Yes, Pitt has rolling admission. My girls applied the first week of September, they had all of their recommendation letters ready over the summer, they met with their guidance counselor the week before school started and had the application ready to be sent out. The nursing program at Pitt is one of the best and they school ends up with more applications each year. If you are interested in Pitt, you should send out your application as early as possible.

Thank you very much. Can you please explain to me though what “rolling admission” is exactly?

Sorry for the delayed response. You might have already looked up what rolling admission is but in case you haven’t, rolling means that the university or college will look at and reply to the applications as they come in. So the earlier you apply, which is usually in late August or early September, your chances are better than someone who applies in October or November. My daughters applied the last week of August and were accepted in the nursing program by October 12th. If you have any other questions just PM me on my email.

@pittpanther50… did you ever end up applying to pitt nursing? I have very similar stats to you:
Weighted gpa 4.1
sats 1130 (cr+m) and in total a 1770 (cr-550, m-580, w-640)

If so, have you heard back from them? I retook my sats in november 2014 in did much better than in march which is why I am now reconsiderring pitt and applying so late.
