Can someone help me find popular pizza shops, coffee shops near campus?
I would like to give some gift certificates to a friend for graduation. Thanks.

The ones that I have seen are on Hillsborough right across from campus…not chain stores so don’t know if they woud have gifts cards.

jd, do you still need that info? My husband will be at a seminar at NCSU today and tomorrow. I can ask him to look for a few places if you are still looking!

Thanks for the offer, I was hoping to hear from a current student or parent of current student so they could say what places are popular. Haven’t heard from anyone, so I guess if your husband has any info that would be helpful. Thanks.

My son will be attending NCSU next year. He has a friend there who just completed his freshman year. I’ll ask him to text his friend, he should have some ideas!

My S just graduated from NCSU. I know Jimmy John’s (subs) on Hillsborough was a fav. also a pizza place called NY Pizza (I think) also on H’borough across fr. NCSU. It’s always full of students. Any delivery pizza would be good. There’s a Mexican place called El Rodeo but it’s sort of a hole-in-the-wall…great food but don’t know about gift cert. There’s an ancient I-Hop (open 24 hours) on Hillsborough that students have eaten at for decades. My husband ate there as a NCSU student in the 70’s.

My son also mentioned Zaxby’s chicken, right next to Univ Towers, subway is there and my husband thinks the pizza place is Marios (?). El Cerro Mexican (we love it) has a location at Centennial Campus (On Avent Ferry Rd) Will try to have more tomorrow!

you may be done with this, but H drove around a bit yesterday and gave me this list:
Brueggers Bagels
Baja Burrito
BaDa Wings

The above are at Western and Avent Ferry area. not a bad walk

Pizza Hut & Cook-Out are about 1 mile

Subway
Cup-A-Joe
Zaxbys
Melvin’s hot dogs
Shanghai express
NY Pizza
Jimmy John’s (subs)
Sub Concious

Above on Hillsborough.

Snoopy’s (hot dogs) (a longer walk)

Well, good luck!

google map “Mellow Mushroom” in downtown raleigh. everyone in raleigh eats here.

im going down today to go look!

Okay, I have spent a lot of time at NCSU and have a LOT of friends that goes there, so know the campus really well.

Pizza
Marcos
Dominos(Western Blvd)
Gumbys
Amores Louge

Gumbys is the most popular one by far. Their pokey stix is awesome and cheap.

Coffee
There are quite of a few places within the school, but outside,
Global Village (Supposely the best coffee in Raleigh, I agree, but a bit expensive)
Donkin Donuts

There are plenty more on hillsbourgh st, but I would say the most popular pizza on Hillsbourgh st is Gumbys and the most popular coffee is Global Village.

Cup A Joe- Has too many “elements”, its always crowded and there is a smoking area so the air inside is terrible
Pizzamerica- The only reason they stay in business is by opening until 4 AM
Melvin’s- Cheap Food, not really good

Mitch’s Tavern is also hugely popular but its too small for the busy lunch/dinner rushes.

Don’t forget Player’s Retreat.
