Placement tests

What are the highest placements for the math and chemistry tests?

For math I got 118 or 125?
and
For Chem I got 105a?

I'm still waiting on ap scores from chem and calc

Depends on what you took in HS and ap scores. My S started in Calc 226 (calc III) - he is engineer.

Did your son take Calc BC, I only took AB

He took AP Calc BC junior year and multivarible calc as a senior. That pathway started way back in 6th/7th grade which is when some schools/kids accelerate the “mathy” type kids which puts them a couple years ahead (over traditional pathway). School suggested it via some test he took in middle school. Has served him well, he will also double major or minor in math.

You can start anywhere in the math sequence if you please, I started with 226 despite taking it in high school. My roommate started with 126.

I would start with Chem 105a and retake the Chemistry sequence even with a 5 on the AP test.

^ Phew. I got the same results for math & was starting to worry my AB score wouldn’t be enough. Thanks.

Ya don’t start too high regardless of the class level just for ego sake. 226 was easy/repetitive for him and he knew that going in, but better to go in wherever you are comfortable starting. He used it basically as a warm up class, someone else may do that with 118 or 125, etc. Can always ramp up from there versus wondering if you miss things going in over your head. As long as you get the math done that you need for what you are doing is all that matters. The good news is this isn’t high school anymore, you only need to worry about your stuff, not what others are doing. :)
