Plagiarism on Supplement

So, I have an application due 1/15 (next thursday) for freshman admission to an undergrad school and I don’t have much time to write a good supplement. A family friend sent me a supplement, which was written for a different school about 7 years ago. I was wondering if the school would be able to tell that the essay is plagiarized, even though it was never sent to them.

Thanks everyone!

Should you do this? NO. Will they know? Probably not. But you would have it hanging over your head if you got in, and if they ever found out they could revoke your admission or degree. Plagiarism is serious business.

Just write the supplement IMO.

There’s a high chance that the guy who sent you the essay used parts of it for other essays. Don’t risk it. You may still use his ideas to construct your own essay out of your own words, though.

Don’t risk it. You can bang out your own essay in < an hour, and proofread/polish in about 3-4.

You have approximately 4 days before the deadline that is plenty of time to write/edit/have others read your supplement.

Don’t mean to be rude but are you even asking this?
Plagiarism is never acceptable; whatever you do in life.
Chances are the essay isn’t even you and plus writing can be fun. Have some fun with it.

Who knows where the “original” author may have lifted all or part of it from? Write your own…

I hammered out close to ten pretty nice essays in 5 days. Its possible. It was during break, but still, possible even with school.
