Plan II - Class of 2021

The first wave of decisions should be soon, around Thanksgiving? Starting a thread so folks can post when they hear. Good luck to everyone!!

Excited for decisions to begin being released!

Based on 2014 thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/1705428-plan-ii-acceptance-letters-for-fall-2015-class-p1.html

First batch- Around Thanksgiving, most receiving their manilla folders at the very end of November possibly even the first few days of December (around 100 sent)
Second batch- Mailed out the week of December 15th, with many receiving them the following week or so (also a fairly small batch I believe)

^ Usually these are almost solely acceptances, but there may be exceptions.

Later batches: Late January and mid February

Good luck to all!

This was another thread that I started recently but we can just go with this one. Looking forward to hearing people get accepted.

@CorpusChristi My bad! I’m so sorry. I looked and did not see a thread. Must have missed it.

I cannot believe how absolutely ridiculous I am checking websites everyday. Who knew it would be this stressful and I’m not even the one applying!! College is certainly different than it was 30+ years ago! Good luck to yours.

@houstonmama no worries! I think us parents stress more than our kids. Maybe because we’re the ones paying the bill.

Does anyone know for non-auto-admits if the process of hearing from Plan II will take longer? Do those applicants need to first be accepted by UT Admissions before Plan II can accept them?

I would think so.

@monofrunner not necessarily, if anything, being a plan 2 applicant may expedite the general admissions for non auto admits since they have to be admitted to university before plan2. I was accepted OOS on friday and am waiting on plan 2

Yes you do have to be admitted to UT first.

With much discussion last year on this, you have to be admitted to UT first, then Plan II would review if it was selected as your first choice major.

Plan II recommends choosing its major as the second choice, so applicants have the opportunity to be considered for the first-choice major or departmental honors and scholarship opportunities. Those with Plan II as their second choice–to a person, it seemed–received positive notification approximately 2 weeks after acceptance by the first major or in the next “wave” of acceptances (pre-Thanksgiving, mid-Dec, Jan, Feb) if they wanted to offer you admission to the Plan II program.

Since most people were not notified of acceptance into their major until the Jan-Feb timeframe waves, Plan II sent out most of its acceptances quickly after the first major acceptance notification. Notification of non-acceptance into Plan II went out in February. There are always some wrinkles in some candidate applications, but the trajectory of this logic is consistent with the process that Kerry Pasquale (Plan II Director of Admissions) has been running for the last number of years.

@EngPII that is very helpful information. DD received her notification of admission into her major, neuroscience on about November 19. She’s waiting on notification about PlanII and Dean’s. So from what you say she has a decent chance of hearing something this week possibly! That would be awesome.

Thanks for the info, Dartmouth_21, CorpusChristi, and EngPII – very helpful.

@CorpusChristi, yes it is feasible your DD would hear soon (Nov or Dec cycles) if there is a positive Plan II acceptance. It is not over if she does not however, depending on the applicant pool. So keep hope alive! Plan II is truly one of the best honors majors/programs in the country. And the P2 students get recruited heavily…

Waiting to hear like :-@

Anyone hear anything yet?

I got my hopes up for nothing lol… Received a large, white packet (first clue) from UT Office of Admissions (second clue) that contained my official acceptance letter to the College of Natural Sciences. Guess the waiting game continues.

i think next week should be the week, based on past years, if you have already received acceptance to your major

Anyone have news yet?

Apparently not.

Thats… Odd. Maybe they’re just having a later start this year than normal.
