Are UCF students required to live on campus for their freshman year? If not, I'm either going to live at Campus Crossings-Alafaya or Campus Crossings-College Station by Campus Apartments due to a special agreement. By attending a college with Campus Apartments, I can live at the Campus Apartments for free all four years!

Is that GPA weighted and are you going to try the ACT as well?

You have great EC’s and your GPA isn’t too bad. Mine is only a little higher.

Freshmen’s do not have to stay on campus!

I’m going to apply out of state also. (UNC Chapel Hill). Colleges don’t take many OOS applicants. Good Luck!:)

You have a really good chance of getting in =), Good Luck

@success2016 My GPA is unweighted, and actually a 3.4. I might take the ACT along with re-taking the SAT. And that’s great, I’m going to enjoy living in my hotel-like room while everyone else gets the crappy frosh dorms hahaha!

@TVguideguy Thanks man! I really hope that I do get in!

Are you applying for summer or fall?

Hopefully we’ll all hear something tomorrow!!!

I highly suggest trying the ACT-many people find it much easier then the SAT, depending on what subjects you’re strong at, and what you’re weak at. Pretty good EC’s (Any community service hours? If it’s a small amount, don’t worry. They only really care about the hours if you have a LOT). All in all, I think you stand a good chance-if you apply for summer. Sorry to say, but as an out of state student, that GPA won’t cut it for fall term. UCF accepts a good amount of out of state students each year (Myself included) but it can be pretty competitive, seeing as there’s slightly limited spots. If you apply for summer, I think you may be accepted. But for fall, I don’t see it. Just trying to be honest, just so you know the best way to work this. Also, I don’t suggest staying off campus freshmen year. Towards your comment about the dorms-have you seen Nike/Hercules dorms? The suits, AND the apartment styles look like hotel resorts (I would know, I’m staying here). The towers are beautiful, too. I just don’t suggest it because you really should be ON campus freshmen year-it gives you the real experiance. I have a small group of freshmen friends who stay right off campus, and wish they chose to stay on campus, simply because it because very difficult to create a social life. Everyone is on campus, and have easy access to everything, and it’s just much easier. I’m LOVING the dorm life-it’s amazing, you meet so many people. Just my stand point-good luck!

Hey Writefluidity, do you think they’ll let me in for summer? 3.5 weighted GPA, 30 ACT, 100+ hours of community service, passed 4 AP exams-but only with a 3, 7 AP classes this year. Every other class has been Honors. I don’t want them to push me to fall. I’ve been reading your past posts and you seem to have really enjoyed starting in the summer. I want to get a headstart on classes and get acclimated to college life. What do you think?

Also, how many classes did you take last summer?

Thanks for your help!

@OP, both your GPA and SAT scores are below average of what UCF accepts. Take the ACT ASAP and see how that goes… If you do apply, apply for summer. I don’t know, but seeing that you’re out of state is just gonna be that much harder to get accepted. Don’t give up though! Also, what kind of ‘special agreement’ are you speaking of with the housing? I live at Campus Crossing @ Alafaya and honestly have never heard of such thing. I have a different opinion than WriteFluidity when it comes to living on campus… I think it’s overpriced and unnecessary. Dorm life was fun, but it’s not worth the extra money you have to fork out… it’s too expensive. Off-campus is just so much cheaper and it’s not like you’ll be missing out on much if you meet enough people. The people that lives around UCF are mostly UCF or Valencia students anyway, so you’ll be meeting people regardless.

@success, I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine with a 30 ACT. Summer term is easier to get into than fall term, so if you want, just apply for summer term! Most kids also take 2 classes over the summer term since you move much quicker than fall/spring term.

Good luck everyone!

The “special agreement” is that I’ll be living at either Alafaya or College Station for free all four years if I choose UCF! This applies to any college with Campus Apartments. Apparently, the head of my Wells Fargo College Bound group lives near a CA exec, and since they work so closely together, this deal came up. Also, I definitely will along with re-taking the SAT. And finally, my GPA is actually a 3.4 instead of a 3.3. But thanks for the advice because I’m really starting to love what I see at UCF!

Oh, and by the way, the Summer term would probably work out for me since I’m going to try out for the marching band

Dang you’re lucky!! Housing around here can be pretty expensive! Word of advice - if you can, go for Campus Crossing @ College Station, not @ Alafaya. Personal experience, that’s all.

Best wishes!

I looked on their website, and College Station looked WAY better than Alafaya. But thanks for all the advice and info! :)

@Success-I honestly think you have nothing to worry about-you should have no problem getting into the summer term. While the GPA is lower then what they expect for fall, the ACT is WAY above what they accept for summer, so it evens it out. You should have no issue getting into summer term:)

Hey guys, I checked Naviance, which is a thing consolers use to show SAT/ACT scores and GPA, today and it turns out that I actually have a 3.8 GPA! So please re-chance me this time with a 3.8 GPA and 1430/2400 SAT score

Woah we are like in the same boat I have a 3.67 GPA and I received a 1480/2400. I feel the same way as you, guys please tell me my chances of getting in for fall 2013!!! This is my number one school and the only place I want to go. Help! :)
