I'm an international student(Indian) but I am an U.S. permenent resident. I currently reside in India though. I would appreciate if you guys will chance me for the Ivy Leagues, Standford, MIT, Caltech, UBerkerly, and Oxford or Cambridge. I want to major in Economics/ Politics.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention

SAT ll: Maths I- 800
Maths II- 800
English Lit- 800
and I am also the model UN delegate from my school.

If this is all true, you seem like a pretty good shoo-in. I feel really confident saying that you’ll get into at least one of the top US schools you listed, no idea about the European ones though.

You have a good chance at all. Oxbridge is going to be tough considering almost everyone else who is applying has those same stats. Good Luck :)

Chance me please

Okay, thanks guys. Anyways, the first poster say “if this is true.” This insinuated that he doubts my achievements even though they are true. Thus, is it likely that the top universities will be too? Should I post all the above stats or should I cut them down a bit when actually applying? All other
chances would be welcome.

Oh yeah, what’s a shoo in?

Someone, please reply? More chances would be welcome.

Shoo-in means its a sure thing.

^ Heh, yeah, maybe I should change the rhetoric, since no one is ever really “sure” on Ivies. And sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that I didn’t believe you, just wondered if you might be another ■■■■■ lurking in this forum (there are a lot, surprisingly…)

Anyways, you have a good shot.

like the others have said, you have a solid chance at all of these places…keep in mind that oxford and cambridge take less than a dozen americans a year combined (or at least that is the statistic that i have found). you should get into at least some of these schools. for top candidates the process is all about whether they happen to choose you over other high-end candidates.
good luck!

Thanks for the prompt responses guys. @fuzzyfirebunny, it’s okay, if I was in your position I would have extrapolated the same thing.

More chances please? =)

Okay, I am doing the cliched bump:)

everything sounds good, but just as a precaution, don’t bank too hard on how you perform on college board practice SATs with performance on the actual test. i routinely got scores upwards of 2350 when i took them, but actual SAT performances havent scored above a 2270 (which doesn’t bother me). the practice tests are a great tool, but i think they tend to overevaluate one’s eventual score…but practice never hurts! good luck!

Hey,

I am indian too!

anyhow, I think you have a good shot at getting into an Ivy, but I did notice something though.

Most of the Ivies are looking for a student that sticks out like a sore thumb in their applicant pool, and I think your test scores and such have helped, but you want a degree in economics/politics. Most of your ECs seem to be geared toward medical professions.

You have a great shot at getting in, but maybe you should think about some economic/political ECs as well, such as forensics/debate, etc. Just a thought!
