Please chance me for these schools Columbia, Cornell, Duke, NYU

I am currently a freshman at UW-Madison
My GPA this semester is a 3.58
Freshman Composition: A
Literature: A
401 level foreign language: AB (this is a 3.5)
Econ 101 (micro): B

My HS gpa was around a 3.75 (unweighted) my school didn't have AP classes
SATS:
650-reading 670-math 710-writing (2030/1320) SAT 2- Math 1- 710
I was in only two clubs this semester but i'm going to join 2 more next semester.

I am considering these schools:
Columbia, Cornell, Duke, NYU, Tufts, Georgetown, Wash U, Emory, Binghamton, Rutgers
Which ones are targets, realistic reaches, and unrealistic reaches?

What school at NYU?

I think your gpa and sats are weak. Can you wait another year and bring that gpa up? Also, what’s your major?

Arts and sciences and I don’t know what my major is yet. Probably political science. What do you think my gpa should be for most of those schools? Also my sats were borderline acceptable (by that i mean 25% percentile) for many of those schools like nyu, emory, cornell, so for a transfer student I thought they were decent.

i’m mostly familiar with cornell and since you’re applying to CAS, your SATs will need to be sent. they’re not bad, but they might not be as great as other applicants’, that’s all. CAS has a really low acceptance rate, 9%. also, the poli sci major at cornell is government so make sure you really look into it for your essays. i’d say at least a 3.7 for cornell would be good.

If you can maintain above a 3.5 for NYU CAS Politics, I think you’ll be good to go. My roommate was transferring from a liberal arts school and successfully transferred as a third semester sophomore with a 3.6 and decent ECs. She was rejected in high school.

I meant arts and sciences for NYU although I don’t remember if its called that as well. At cornell I would probably be applying to ILR. I applied last year and was deferred and then rejected. I know that Cornell does accept a good number of cc students and for them getting a higher gpa than 3.6 is much easier than for me. Wisconsin is a top 30 school so is a 3.58 really not considered competitive?
