PLEASE CHANCE ME: George Washington University and American University

I am really interested in George Washington University and American University (more GWU though). What do you guys think my chances are?

-I am a Mexican-American male from the West side of the nation
-GPA: 3.93 unweighted (don't have a weighted GPA b/c my school doesn't have those kinds of classes)
-Rank: 5/90
-SAT: 1780/2400
-ACT w/ writing: 25 composite (my writing score was 08)
(I know my test scores are low, but I am hoping everything else I have will help me)

-Extracurricular activities:
•Key Club member
•I am a mentor at my school
•Involved in a community service club
•TRiO Upward Bound
•National Honor Society Member
•Student Council officer
•Class Vice President
•Class Secretary

-My school does not offer AP classes, but I am dual enrolled my local community college and have been taking a full college load for the past 2 years.
-I believe that I wrote really good admissions essays. I was definitely proud of them!
-I also have done a lot of community service (i don't know if they look at that though).
-I have heard that being a URM helps, so I am hoping that it is a hook for me.

So what do you guys think? I was also considering applying to the honors programs for these schools. I know they are competitive, but I have nothing to lose! Any thoughts?

Bump…

Bump. Bump. Bump.

Bump…Bump…

…bump

Wow. Tough crowd…bump

Reach for GWU … match for American.

bump…

Bump. Bump. Bump

Bump. Bump. Bump…Bump

I think you’ll get into American. GW is a toss up though. Good luck!

Bumpity Bump Bump Bump

You’re in at American, likely at GWU. Did you interview with GWU? Just out of curiosity.

No, I did not do an interview. In fact, I did not know that GWU did interviews. Perhaps an interview would be a bit hard because I live on the other side of the nation from GWU. Hmmm…

I think you’re definitely an in for American. I don’t think they prefer SAT or GPA, but one of them has to be strong. They also value diversity and like taking students from the west coast.

Your test scores may hurt for GWU, but I don’t think it’s a reach.
