I tried this a few months ago with no responses :( but i figured i's try again.. I really want to get into Georgetown and I know it's a reach but its definitely my number one! I just go to a really small public school on long island- nothing too special, we have some kids graduate and go to Yale, Princeton, Columbia ect. but people go to state schools and such too

GPA: 3.7 unweighted (5 APs and 7 honors)

EC's
-Yearbook editor
-Global Club (community service club)
-Cross Country
-Winter Track
-Spring Track
-National Honor Society
-Compassion Without Borders Leadership Counsel (students hand picked by principals)

Volunteer Work
-hurricane katrina relief (essay)
-soup kitchen volunteer
-handing out food and clothes to homeless in nyc
-brookhaven national lab science bowl volunteer
-salvation army bell ringing
-camp counselor
-habitat for humanity
-ran/organized habitat for humanity fundraiser

my essay was good- it was different than a lot of others, written in the second person and stuff but my supplement essay was just okay :(

chance at Georgetown and Boston College PLEASEEEE!

Thanks for the chance!
From what I know about Georgetown, I’d say you’re likely to get in. You have a lot of volunteer work which is important to them and you’re SATs are high.
And I don’t know much about BC but just based on your SATs I’m thinking you’re a shoe-in theere. :)

BECAUSE OF YOUR EC’S AND VOLUNTEER WORK, ALSO YOUR GPA AND COURSEWORK… I THINK THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO GET INTO BOTH OF THOSE SCHOOLS. IF YOU HAD A VERY DIFFERENT ESSAY, ONE THAT STAND SOUT YOU FOR SURE MADE IT IN TO BOTH. HOWEVER, JUST TO BE SAFE I SAY MATCH AND MATCH ON BOTH OF THE SCHOOLS

hmm…your SAT’s are good, and if you can convey your enthusiasm for you extra curriculars even better. Your volunteer work is amazing, it shows you’re active in your community.
i think: Georgetown: reach, BC: match…good luck! ^-^

Georgetown - Low Reach ( A friend of my got deferred here, she had/has a 4.4 GPA and 2270 on her SATs so it is not very easy to get in)
BC- High Match, Gpa may be slightly low, but SAT scores are right in range

georgetown is definitely a reach, but you still have a pretty good chance!
boston is a match.
you should look at GWU and American if you’re considering politics. also UVA, i’m pretty sure you’d get into all three!
best of luck! and thanks for chancing me :D

I agree with a lot of the others,
You have great stats (congrats!) - I feel like Boston College would be a match and Georgetown kind of a reach.
If you haven’t already, try setting up an interview? Even if you don’t live near the school, a lot of colleges/univs ask local alumni to interview applicant - I live in Florida and my friend was able to organize an interview with an alum from Washing Univ-St. Louis :)
