I got in the 99th percentile (2337) on the SSAT. Do you think I will still make it? Will the 63 points mess me up badly?

I am in all honors classes with all A+'s and but I got a 96 in English for my last report card. Do the schools look at grades that closely? Is there anyway I can explain to them that one "A" was an isolated incident?

I play soccer, tennis, basketball, and swimming. I am nationally ranked in all of them and have playing all of them since I was 4 except for basketball which I started when I was 5. Do you think the athletic coach won't interview me because I started that one a bite late?

I play the viola and have played at Carnagie Hall 5 times in the last year. I am head of the student council, math club, national junior honor society and have been feature on Jeopardy and the Wall STreet Journal.

However, there is ONE bad thing about me... I accidently sneezed during my interview and the interviewer noticed. Do you think I can still make it with such bad stats?

you have absolutely no chance of getting in at all. how could you even THINK you could get in anywhere w/ you stats!?!
blasphemy! you must have atleast a 123% to get into even some lower tier day school. and that 1 a simply cannot do. it has screwed up your chances even more. Carnegie Hall Schmarnegie Hall everyone knows you have to play at the white house to even get noticed. njhs math club and student council are useless! and nobody watches jeopardy.

that sneeze is definitely going to cost you admission even if your horrendous stats didn’t. I mean a sneeze! what horrible mannes! who would imagine!? tsktsktsk

Starting baseball late is going to kill you for sure. and you need to restake the SSAT, those 63 points are going to kill you. The sneezing is poor form, the admissions officers don’t want a human child they want a superhero that doesnt do human stuff like that. If you can get your SSAT up a bit and do some community service, I’d give you a 60ish chance. There’s always room to improve!

6th grade tsktsk! you definitely should’ve started in ATLEAST 1st grade. I mean I know this kid who knows this chick who knows this kid’s aunt’s mailman’s son who started that late and only just got on the waiting list. most start in pre-k with professional consultants.

damn it i was just about to make one of these, ha

but honestly the grades are ok but the SSAT will hurt you. You lack in EC’s and u should probably just leave out sports if you’re that bad at them. But overall, the sneeze is what’s gonna kill you the most.

Very reminiscent of a thread I posted last year. I couldn’t agree with you more. Having gone through the entire process, I can attest to the fact that it’s a lot less scientific than a lot of people here seem to think.

sorry urbanflop, but your stats are absolutely HORRIBLE. you need to have AT LEAST cured the common cold and found the cure for cancer. and these schools don’t even look at people with SSATs below a 2238.8574. what are you doing on these boards???

although that sneeze should be alright. i mean, i knew this kid who moved his head during the interview and he actually got in. so miracles happen.
