This school is my TOPTOP choice and I applied for EA:) I am an international student from CANADA and would like to know my chances. I chose criminal justice as my intended major and economics for second choice. I took SAT one time and got 1260 (critical + math) which I know is low but had no time to write another.
NO ACT and strong strong recommendations from three academic teachers. I did not take AP courses since my school only provided IB but decided to take 2 IB courses instead. I took full pre IB ( really close to honors) courses for freshman and sophomore but it seemed to really drag my GPA down to low Bs and bare minimum As. I raised my course grades to nearly two (100%) finals on math courses and lots of high 90s for science and ENglish courses in Junior year. Senior year is flowing quite smoothly as well.
I have lots of extracurriculars including diverse areas such as internship in the UK, rigorous music background, leadership activities, two sports team and lots more.
I have one many awards as well such as top student awards and 1st place in nationals speech contest

I think you have a pretty good chance. Your SAT score isn’t as low as you say it is, actually, it seems pretty close to the average. Your ECs look pretty good! I’m applying to UMD, too and hopefully we’ll be getting our responses soon. best of luck!

@kimmi136 if you get in there definitely should be a Class of 2019 Facebook page you can talk to other admitted students on. That’s how a lot of my friends met their roommates last year!
I think you have a good chance. Your SAT is not all that bad actually, and from the description you gave it sound like your ECs are pretty solid as well.
What’s your GPA btw? You’ve given a description but not an actual number. I’m not really familiar with the Canadian school system, but if you GPA is in the mid to high 3s I’d say you’ve have as good a chance as any.
Hopefully we both get some good news this month (maybe even today)! I saw on your history that you’re applying to GWU - I am too! I think you have a pretty solid chance for that school as well. Good luck!
My gpa is 4.0 weighted and 3.8 unweighted:)

That’s cool that you want to do criminology! I think that’s awesome! I’ll be going in undecided though, so I’m in Letters and Sciences.
