I plan to double major in math and philosophy.

You have a pretty good shot at getting in. In fact, Illinois’ school of LAS is a safety for you.

UIUC accept you based on how exceptional you are, and how likely you’ll succeed in the future. based on your given information your in, most likely. I had a 3.2(UW)…so around top 25% in class and a 25 on ACT and i got into UIUC’s Electrical Engineering major (top 4 in nation) :] Just make sure you have an amazing essay, i think that’s what got me in ;] Also having a special talent in specific major will help, like past experience or an internship. There are a lot of thing that college look at other than your GPA and Exam score.

OP, what state are you from?

anyone, does Illinois fold in resident state when assessing an applicant, or it is indifferent to resident state? I know there is a huge pct of in-staters. Does this mean being in-state is a hindrance - since the school might be trying to make a more diverse body - or might it mean that being out of state is a hindrance since there are so few of 'em.

I don’t believe UIUC is trying to increase its out-of-state percentages. The legislators weren’t happy the last time the OOC percentage went up. If you look on the college board website under UIUC admission policies, it says state residency is considered, but it’s not listed as an important factor.
