Georgetown University
New York University
Sarah Lawrence College

University at Buffalo Honors College

So I can't really chance you, because I'm not even into college... but I applied EE to Wellesley and now I feel extremely ****ty and unqualified? ahahaha. but really, just from an outside perspective, you seem very qualified with all of the extracurriculars and leadership stuff, which is what Wellesley seems to really like! good luck!

Although your SATs might be a bit low, your GPA is not bad and your extracurriculars are A-MA-ZING. I think you would have a very good chance of getting in. Don't worry too much about your SATs, mine weren't that good either.

i think you have a really great chance of getting into wellesley based on your course load, gpa, travel experiences, volunteer and communicty services. the school you come from also plays a role in the admissions process, as well as your competitors. my essay was to wellesley was about my summer experience in teaching at a foreign country, and i had a relatively high SAT score (2300). my gpa was high compared to my competitors (around a 3.7). so my guess is that wellesley values stats more than they let on.

anyone else out there?

I had my wellesley interview and it went really great :)

anyone else out there? anymore input? (positive input is realllyyy appreciated at this point cause my confidence level is sorta low now) I love this school, and I really really hope that I get in :/

input?

Hi eskimo208,

Glad to hear that your interview went well. You've got great extracurriculars, but I'm not sure how to comment on your other numerical credentials. Your SAT's are a little lower (esp. your CR score) and your unweighted GPA is a bit low as well. Good that you've taken the most rigorous courses offered at your high school, but we don't know how you've done in them. For example, your GPA (weighted or unweighted) says nothing about whether you did better as you went through your HS career, or is there a downward trend? Are you consistent across disciplines, or are you weaker in a particular subject area? Just stating a GPA isn't as illuminating as seeing your entire transcript as a whole. Not that you should put up your entire HS grades here! Just pointing out that we're only "chancing" you with the very limited information that you (the general you, not you specifically eskimo208) provide us. Who knows how accurate any of us are?

By the way, I'm curious as to how you know what your recommendations say? I never got to see what my teachers/mentors said about me. I was wondering if they offered to show them to you or if you asked to see them?

jacinth_ambrose- true, true. an actual transcript would show way more. generally speaking, there was no upward or downward trend- i was pretty consistent throughout. Literature being my strongest subject (always a's) and science being my worst subject (always b's). so there is an obvious contrast in what im good at and what im not so good at. I have no idea what that will mean in the admissions office but, on my part, I can only hope that the fact that literature is my strong point only benefits me.

The Columbia professor- (supp. recommendation) mailed 15 copies to me on Columbia letterhead to send off to the specific colleges, guidance counselor- applied for a ub program and she gave me the rec and just told me that it was basically the same one she used for my colleges but she just took out the sentence that said "college" lol, teacher a- gave me a similar copy when i applied to a separate scholarship, teacher b- dont know what it says exactly she told me what she generally wrote about and said it was great etc so not sure for that one.... takes deep breath.. and that was the in-depth response to how i knew!

anyone else?

anyone out there? :/

Did you apply EE? If so, the decisions have been posted for a while now.

You're ECs are fantastic and really make you stand out. With the awards and accolades you've received, it looks like your hard work has already begun to garner appropriate rewards. And from what you've posted, you have shown not only intelligence, ambition, but compassion.

There are many factors that play a part of your admission chance and I'm not an admissions officer, so I can't give you the magical equation. But wherever you go, I have faith that you will be a definite asset to that school and student body. Personally, I would be thrilled and honored to be classmates with you.

Good luck and believe in yourself! I'm sure there are many people, including myself, that believe in you!

Your GPA I think will hurt you, but you seem like an interesting applicant, so I think you have a pretty good chance. Good luck!
