Well I was accepted at Colgate but waitlisted at UPenn, so once i send in the card to say i accept my spot on the UPenn waitlist what do I do. I know I put my deposit down for Colgate, but what if I dont find out about UPenn until housing and all that stuff is done?

Honestly, the waitlist system is a joke. I am not sure if you have seen the stats but the chances are reallllly low. My advice would be to enjoy Colgate or send a few more recommendations/ essays to Penn so that you can be one of the few who get accepted from the waitlist.

If you should come off the UPenn waitlist and take the spot, you would forfeit your deposit at Colgate. Some schools don't notify you until very late of their waitlist decision. I don't think you would have anything to lose by staying on the waitlist. You are not obligated to go to UPenn if a spot is offered to you later.

Polite Rejection.

Yup - the waitlist really serves the college and takes advantage of the appicants' emotional angst. When you're on the waitlist, it's really more about what kind of kid they need, rather than who is most qualified.
