Okay.... I'm a high school senior almost hemorrhaging from the brain.

A) Do they need EVERYTHING -SAT scores, transcript, AP scores- by December 10 (I'm applying for the scholarship deadline), or just the application itself? Should I tell the teacher and the counselor that it needs to be postmarked by December 10th or received by December 10?

B) Do they not want you to put your second semester senior schedule on the application?

C) I took 3 science courses in 11th grade but there's only room for 2 courses

D) They want gym classes and stuff like that on the app, right?

D) What's the whole barcode thing? If I don't want to screw with that, can I just write my USC ID? If so, where am I supposed to write this and on what documents?

Don't worry. I'm just obsessive compulsive. It got even worse when I called Berkeley 3 times, 3 different days with the exact same question and got 3 completely different answers. I don't trust admission offices anymore. I'd rather just get the answers from people who did this recently and got admitted. Just to be sure

If you though you knew what you were doing, I'm sure you're doing it right :) I just seem to be lost in this whole world of filling applications out.

haha well i'll try to answer your question....i can see you're a newbie here so i'll help you out..
A) They said the application deadline is dec 10, so my best bet is to make sure everything gets to them by dec 10...maybe the latest SAT scores you can send in are december...but because admissions start already end of jan (even though on the website it says they only need your SAT score report by feb 15) you have to take into account that their deadline for normal apps is jan 10 and they require SAt by feb 15...so i guess for the dec 10 deadline they'd require SAT and AP by jan 15....

B) You should put your semester schedule and they would know that you don't have the grades for it yet. unless they ask to see you're senior grades if your acceptance is conditional, your second semester won't matter much anymore once you're accepted but it's always a good idea to show them your intended semester schedule..

C) For the science thing, i'm not sure...

D) They want a well rounded applicant so gym class and all will look better..

E) I don't think you have to worry about the barcode thing. I think it's just intended for students who have visited USC or sth or maybe they got a tag...your USC ID is enough...so you don't have to worry about that...

From what i've read, i notice you're applying to USC with their paper app, they have said they prefer it online..and i think online is much easier..plus there's no wierd barcode thing...so it erases your last question...why you sending it by paper?
Plus it's also easier to send it in by dec 10, cause you minimize mail delievery time

A) They would LIKE everything by then... but I think it mostly means your application. Usually if you're missing something like a transcript or AP scores, they will email you and tell you to get them in ASAP even if it's after the deadline. But if you're applying to scholarship, just basically get them in ASAP (the deadline would be best)
B). i don't know..do it if there's a spot on the APP for it....? It's been a while since I've seen the app
C) put in two and put the third as an elective
D) I think so. Really...I don't think they care too much..unless it was like some sport you were really into or something
D) Yeah you can write your USC ID.. did you get barcodes in the mail? if you did then just use those. either way.

Oh yeah, I am doing it online! I just noticed someone else talking about the barcode thing and it confused me. I don't even know what all to write the USC ID on. I used to be here a lot as "srabiee" but all of the sudden they asked me for a password then I couldn't get it e-mailed to me for some reason and it was driving me crazy not posting so I made a new account :D What a run on.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm feeling better about all this.

Do they want me to make a copy of my score report and attach it to the coversheet and mail it to them and THEN have my official scores sent? It just seems pointless but I don't know why else they would have the SAT Cover sheet

I think they do want you to send a copy of your test scores (part 7?) and then follow up with official score reports. And that is exactly the type of form you attach your USC ID # to, whether barcode lable or written in by hand. Also, when you give your teachers the rec form, write your id # there as well.

Applied 6 years ago for S#1 when the online app was just starting. They sent barcode stickers to everyone who filled out part 1 so you could put the stickers on all the parts that you would be mailing. Applied last year for S#2 and we didn't get the stickers right away so I called to find out why. They said they were running behind on sending the stickers, but it didn't really matter- we should just write the ID# that we had received in the mail. We hadn't received that in the mail either so they just told us the ID# over the phone. I guess since the system has changed to mostly online, they don't care as much about the barcode stickers.

ID number doesn't really matter. YOu can put your social security numbers instead. ID number changed like 3 times for me during the application process.

haha...well i'm already a USC student so I think I can help you out

a. send in your application postmarked before Dec 10, try to have it done a few days in advance..i did mine online and it was much easier...online you can submit your second semester course schedule and u can send your AP scores/SAT scores after dec 10

b. DO IT ONLINE it is SOOOOO much easier to submit everything...all u have to send in are your transcripts and recommendations

c. they just want your transcripts and 1st-2nd semester Senior courses

d. the barcode just makes it easier to recognize your application..instead of having to read your usc id and type it into the computer

Just to add something - don't include gym on the academic history page. I have the paper app in front of me right now, it says "DO NOT LIST: classes in drama production and stage craft; music ensembles such as band, choir, jazz band or orchestra, leadership; physical education; computer applications, keyboarding; consumer math, business and accounting courses; newspaper and yearbook staff positions; debate team; teaching assistantships."
