How important is it that I retake SAT Subject U.S. History (see below)

ACT 35
Grades-All AP/IB, going for full diploma, all A's except one B in one IB class one semester
Minority female
Lots of great ECs
Assume great essays
SAT Spanish w/ Listening 790
SAT Lit 750
SAT US Hist 630

Not too important, its obviously the odd ball out on your application. Also, I think Georgetown only asks for 2 SAT2’s, right? If you have a good SAT score too I wouldn’t worry.

I think they’re the only college still asking for three. They have no mercy.

They require 3 SAT2’s. I would consider taking another SAT 2, possibly a math or another subject, or retaking. I think it also depends on what school you would be applying to as far as what would be the best ones to submit.

I do think you should pick another test to see if you can get any higher. 630 is pretty low, especially considering that you’re supposed to take subject tests in your stronger course areas.

Also, if you are applying to the School of Foreign Service, they really want to see a social studies subject test with a strong score and in that case, I would suggest either retaking US history and trying to get as close to 700 as you can or trying your hand at the World History test. If you do want to go SFS, they also look at language tests, and the 790 on Spanish is quite impressive, particularly if you aren’t a native speaker.

For one test, I wouldn’t bother. The rest of your stats are already fantastic. One of my SAT II scores was 640 (Literature).

DD applied early action and was admitted before two of her three SATII scores were in.

I sent in a 34 ACT, 710 Math, 760 History, and 690 Chem. I was accepted but its up to the admissions committee. Full IB diploma student here as well and I had a 3.87 unweighted, 4.64 weighted, rank 7 of 572.

Well, I have to ask, is the one B in a US History class? I mean, yea, you have great stats, but that could look more like a trend that an anomaly. Personally, I wouldn’t bother, but then again, I think that everyone should take the SATs/SATIIs/etc. once and only retake if they were genuinely sick or something. Constant retaking doesn’t do anything good for anyone.

Nope. Luckily, the B was not in US History
