Please help me :)

Ok, so I didn’t get accepted :frowning: I am a senior in high school and applied to LS&A as a freshman. I didn’t really expect to get I I have a average gpa and low test scores. I want to know what can I do to get in next time around? So here is the deal I want to go to UofM as a sophmore. Do people do that?
My plan is to go to a community college for one year and transfer. Again, do people do that?
When your a transfer student what does the school look at? ACT scores, extracurriculars, GPA, essays? What are they looking for?
Oh and by the way I eventually want to graduate from the ross school of business. Again, do transfer students do that?

Help me!

Someone please explain to me what I should do!!!

Thank you!

to be honest, if you couldn’t get into LSA as a freshman, then it’s unlikely you’ll be competitive when applying to Ross

@nubswitstubs do you have any other advice?

I’m not familiar with the transfer process, so I can’t comment on that, sorry.

Do well in CC, transfer to lsa, do well in LSA, apply to Ross

Ross is a minimum 3 year program, and they won’t let you go straight from CC to Ross, you would need to spend a year at UM first so they can see your grades there. So it would be 5 years for you. Plus, you might not even get in if you go to UM for a year then apply to Ross. If you can’t cut the mustard now you might not then either. I would say try MSU or UM Dearborn, they are fine. Good luck.

I transferred in as a sophomore but it seems many people are told to reapply as junior transfers. I couldn’t tell you anything about how they decide who they want to have more credits and what not, or what they focus on. My SAT scores were ten years old at the time so I don’t think they carried any weight although I still had to send them in. You could read through a couple of the transfer threads and see what you can extrapolate from those.

As people have mentioned Ross is extremely competitive so if you decide to go this route, I’d have a back up plan in LSA should you not make it into Ross. The bottom line is that no matter where you end up, if you still want to come to Michigan, work your tail off and get the best grades you can and apply and see what happens. Don’t let anyone here on CC tell you that you can’t make it or discourage you from trying.

Thank you!

Back when bison roamed the plains, I was roommate to a guy who attended one of the satellite campuses. He transferred in, and did very well.
