Hey,
I took the Feb 5th postponed SAT, hoping to get a better SAT I math score. Didn't happen...(I went from a 720 to a 670...really bad day :( )

But I did get an 800 verbal, which raises my overall score (after 3 times) to a 1520. I had a 1460 best before (740 V, 720 M). My SAT IIs are pretty good, I think: 800 Writing, 750 Math, 750 Bio. My ACT is a 34.

I know that scores aren't everything, and that I shouldn't care so much about them. The only reason I'm wondering if I should send the new scores is because I'm proud of the 800 Verbal, but don't know if it will make much of a difference.

Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

either way, wouldn't your new feb 5th combined score (1470 overall) be better than your previous combined score from any date (1460)

i would just send the scores, i don't think they'd hurt, and if the college does combine the 800 with your 720, then all the better

I think that you should send it. 800 verbal scores are rarer than 800 math scores, and, as mistaippa pointed out, your new composite score is higher than your previous best.

Thanks for replying :)

Since my score only went up 10 points, I didn't know if it would really matter that much...and I thought the 670 wouldn't look very nice, either

Do you think that colleges will disregard the 670 and just take the 720 (for those who take the highest combined), or will they put at least some weight on the lowest score

Also, in case it matters, the most competitve schools I'm applying to are Harvard, Princeton, Duke, Brown, and Columbia

They take the highest in each section unless you have taken it more than three times. What were your scores from each testing? Did you consistantly scored higher in math than 670?

I scored 700 the first time, then 720, now 670
not really great scores, though...(at least, compared to others who are applying to the Ivies and top 50 schools)

Your score are wonderful. Because 670 was your lowest math score, you should not worry about the adcoms looking down on it. Your 750 math SAT II also shows that you are capable. Most schools take the highest in each section if the test was only taken three times. By sending the scores, you will have a 60 point increase.

Thanks for the quick reply, and the reassurance :)
Maybe I'm just over-analyzing things too much...this whole process is so nervewracking!

Anyone else have any thoughts? Thanks

absolutely send them -- adcoms love 800-v
