Please help with chances! Film schools....

Hey guys, I just signed up and I'd really appreciate it if you'd help me out!

Here are my stats:

I'm graduating a year early --> so this is technically my "junior" year
my senior classes are:
AP Gov't
AP US History
AP Comp
PA (syracuse u credit) Psychology
Advanced Comm. French
Chamber Singers (select choir)
Pre Calc Honors
(no science --> had to drop in order to graduate)

In the past I've taken all honors classes, all 5 main subjects every year, AP Euro... and oh yes, I started taking high school classes in eighth grade (they count on my transcript)

My GPA = 92.5 unweighted; 96.085 weighted
Rank = #26 out of 291 students (9%)

My SATs --> I'm taking them for the first time this saturday
ACT --> first time on Oct. 22nd
SAT IIs --> 620 on Bio (8th grade); 720 on Math IC
However, my PSAT score was a 1220 (650 CR, 570 math) or 1940 (720 wr)
I plan to get higher though, i've been studying, I should get around a 1300/1350
on the PLAN (practice ACT) I got a composite score of 28, and my range they gave me was 29-33

As for extracurriculars,
I've been highly involved with theatre/singing the past few years
tons of community shows, involvement in chorus, festivals, etc.
I've made a few short films on my own --> dont have much experience in the area, but I LOVE it --> which is why I'm def. majoring in film
I am a member of:
National Honor Society
French Honor Society
Tri-M (music) Honor Society
International Thespian Honor Society
Math Club (for two years)
SADD Club (for two years)
I've also done lots of community service through various clubs --> tutoring, mentoring

and if it helps, I'm a NY resident!

Anyway, so I'm applying to the film program for these schools:
University of Southern California
New York University
Boston University
Emerson College
Chapman University
Ithaca College

Any input? I now my talent regarding film can't be assessed, but I'd really appreciate grade-wise assessment! Thank you so much!
Oh, and if you can reccomend any other safety schools, I'm pretty much sure those schools are my final list - but I have an irrational fear I won't get into any! lol... so yeah.

sorry, but count nyu and usc out. They are arguably the two best programs in the country, and they almost certainly will want you to submit work. If you don't have much experience, that won't be good enough. I think you have a chance at getting into both of those schools definitely, but not the film programs (if thats even what you're asking about)

Oh, I guess I didn't make it clear - I definitely have work to submit. I'm not trained whatsoever, but I have two or three 5 minute works that I think are pretty darn good, and I will be sending in (only NYU and Emerson ask for a submission though, the others ask simply for a portfolio list)

thank you though!

Planned to graduate early for my junior year too, with slightly higher scores, but decided against it because USC and NYU are unbelievably selective... just in case you didn't know, I know for a fact that USC only takes 50 freshmen a year for film production and I heard NYU only takes 30-something.

Well then it definitely couldn't hurt to try. Both of those schools accept such a low number though that no matter what, you shouldn't hold your breath. It's especially difficult undergrad. Maybe hone your craft during colleg then apply for graduate school?

hmm, well i'll try no matter what

what about the other schools? any input on those?

bump because I'd reallly like to get any sort of opinion

I'd say you have strong chances at Chapman and Ithaca. I don't know much about BU and Emerson, but I doubt they're much harder to get into.

It's common knowledge that USC and NYU have the best and most competitive film programs in the country, though I'd still suggest applying. USC won't accept any shorts that you send them, while at NYU they are required for admission to Tisch. USC accepts 50 students for film production, though several of those spots are for sons/daughters of people in the industry. I'm still not sure how they select applicants for the program without looking at portfolios... but then again if your films aren't that strong, it could end up being an advantage.

Just remember that you don't have to go to the best film school in order to accel in the industry.

Anyways, good luck.
