Hi everyone, I currently go to Brandeis and I hate it, and I want to transfer. All I want is a more diverse college, with no significant religious presence, with a nice campus and near or in a city - I think I would feel too isolated at a small rural college, and they are quite difficult to transfer into anyway. I also want to stay in the Northeast.

I am considering NYU but my big hesitation is the lack of a traditional campus/college community.

On the whole, I'm not sure one could assert that small rural colleges are harder to transfer into than colleges in big cities...it might be helpful if you posted your stats so we could give you a better idea of schools that you can get into that also match your above criteria

hs gpa: 3.8 unweighted, graduated with honors
SAT : Verbal 700, Math 680, Writing 710
4's on AP History and English Lit
HS Extracurriculars: national honor society member/tutor, student ambassadors tour guide, volunteer at local hospital, intern for nonprofit organization, competed in equestrian competitions
College gpa: 3.6
didn't do much extracurriculars, just dance and cultural organizations

your lack of college ec's could hurt you in the admissions process, but you should at least have a shot for nyu cas...

generally, colleges in big cities tend to be more fragmented than more rural colleges...Some colleges to look into would be Boston university, boston college (although I believe there is a religious element, i dont think it is overwhelming), Sarah lawrence (about 25 minutes or so from NYC), perhaps fordham
