Please, I need a lot of advice about transferring

I currently attend SUNY New Paltz. Changed my major from Education to Finance (hence, my reason to transfer).

I applied to Binghamton for Fall 2011, landed on the waitlist, and eventually got rejected. Binghamton is amazing for its business school but my chances are too slim to get accepted, but I am planning to apply again for Spring 2012.

I have 31 credits (Sophomore), and my overall GPA is a 3.29 (went from 3.56 to 3.0). It's terrible I know, but I am desperate to transfer out. I feel like I could get a better education elsewhere and New Paltz is not known for it's business school.

For Spring 2011, I am going to apply to SUNY Binghamton, and Baruch.
What are my chances for Baruch? I need some insight on my chances. Is Bing completely out of my league?

And are there any other schools with good business programs? I prefer someplace in-state, since I can't really afford to attend privates.

Thanks

Anyone? :(

If you haven’t already, you might want to ask this on the Business Major subforum, people there might be more familiar with business programs in NY.

Why not check out the business school at New Paltz? One of my son’s housemates was a business major and now has a job at a major news station.

If it has to be in-state and public, then your option is bascially SUNY/CUNY for business. For CUNYs, Baruch is your best bet. SUNY Binghamton is too competitive unless you raise your overall GPA to at least 3.5/3.6. According to businessweek, Bing is ranked around 35 and applicants at Bing are equivalent to applicants at top 30/40 colleges (gradewise)

Thanks nycdave21. I’m just worried if my GPA is even up to par with Baruch as well.
