CPA filed 2/28. Was able to pull info today, 3/7. It might have even been available earlier, but I didn’t check until today.

E-filed back in early February, had a balance due, but didn’t mail my check until 2/18. Funds were taken from my checking account on 2/25; DRT just became available today (3/7). Yay!!!

And ps, thanks @dodgersmom, for that link to the transcript site for checking availability. Worked like a charm (today the “not filed” asterisk disappeared on 2013, and voila! DRT was available), and MUCH easier than going through the FAFSA site. Great tip!!

1040 for D2, no taxes due; e-filed on 3/3, DRT transferred data today, 3/8, 5 days.

Comment: I used DRT for both Ds and myself, but I had to make a couple of corrections to the transferred data. Their amount for the AOC was $1 off, and they posted a taxable amount for D2, when there was none. Very strange, but just a reminder that you should check the amounts even though they are transferred from the IRS.

I thought that if you made post-edits, it is not considered “verified”

I’d rather edit than submit inaccurate data.

Should my Mom pay the state electronically or does the state payment have absolutely no impact of how soon the data retrieval will work? She had a tiny federal refund. My mom was going to mail in a check to the state, but she won’t if it could have any potential to hold things up.

@entomom, it’s likely what happened is the IRS made adjustments to the returns. The IRS does that when they notice something that they believe isn’t correct. What was transferred via the DRT almost certainly matches what the IRS has. Just because it doesn’t match what you filed doesn’t mean it isn’t correct as the IRS sees it. You will probably get a notice from the IRS as to what they adjusted and have to pursue that with the IRS if you believe their adjustment is incorrect. I wouldn’t have changed the amounts in FAFSA.

E-filed on 3/5, DRT’d today 3/13. It may have been available earlier but I forgot to do it until just now.

I talked with some one who took 15 days from e-file to DRT, so don’t despair.

I e-filed on 3/04, and transcript (thus, DRT) wasn’t available yet on 3/14 when I tried that afternoon. Sure hope I can take care of it today!

S filed on 3/13 ( I filed on the 11th I think) and I was able to do the IRS import on his FAFSA today. I actually didn’t try any earlier than today so it might have been available sooner.

S e-filed on 3/04 and we were able to get the DRT import to FAFSA on 3/17. However, I e-filed on 3/04 and as of 3/19 at 10PM, my transcript from IRS was still not available (so didn’t even try the DRT). Hoping I can get this finalized within the next 4 or 5 days! At least one college has told me they are waiting on this to finalize any financial aid.

E-filed 3/12 with H&R Block; refund today; did FAFSA today, 3/20. Very nice how it plugs in a lot of the numbers!

17 days! e-filed on 3/04, finally able to get DRT import for husband and I this evening!

Efiled March 14, DRT on March 29.

-E-filed Parents and Student 1040’s on 2/12/14
-Able to retrieve tax info. using DRT for Parents’ tax return 2 to 3 weeks later.
-Still unable to retrieve using DRT on our Student/Son’s info. Tried ordering tax transcript but unable to do that either. Our son owed money and the IRS debited his bank account a few days after he E-filed.

As you can see it’s been two months since our son E-filed. We have tried contacting the IRS but it’s impossible to get hold of a human, and there’s no way to get the information we need from the IRS automated phone service. The university has already informed us of the financial aid award, and so far they’re telling us they just need the DRT info. or a tax transcript by the time the payments are due next fall. It seems that the only thing my son can do right now is keep trying to use the DRT every few days.

We are in the same position as Ekatte. DRT worked just fine for me. My son e-filed on 02/10. He was a 1st time filer and owed money. The money came out of his account two days later. DRT has not worked for him, nor has he been able to order a transcript. Calling the IRS didn’t work. So, he is doing the same thing as Ekatte’s son. He doesn’t have his FA letter, but his university is aware of the situation and said to keep trying. Maybe it will be easier to get ahold of someone after the 15th! :)

Just an update. I called the IRS yesterday. Apparently, first time filers who owe are in the back of the queue for several reasons. One, they are checking for identity theft. Two, they process refunds first. This means that every person, corporation etc… who files before you and is owed a refund will jump the queue no matter when they filed. The very helpful woman at the IRS said that my son should probably be able to use DRT either at the end of April or beginning of May. Her suggestion was that he should make estimated payments this year so that he would not owe any taxes when he files for 2014. By receiving a refund, he should be able to use DRT much sooner for the 2015 FAFSA.

The only way I could check to see if the DRT was available while I was waiting was to go back into the FAFSA through “Make Corrections” and once I was in it seemed to force me to make a correction before I could get out. This seemed ridiculous but I was able to do it because DDs checking acct savings kept going down so I would make that small adjustment. But there must be an easier, more correct way to find out if the DRT is available. How do you do it?
