Thanks openedskittles for your response. May I ask you are you in texas, and where? which school you are attending.

If you are in TX, is there anyway you can help(not the money). like guiding me area to live, schools, getting around. We can do that through messaging.

It is a huge challenge for me moving out of state on my own.

^not very helpful if you can’t get into/afford UT Austin

@ pencil787: I am living in Austin and attending McCombs at UT Austin. I know some people from the north side of Dallas who have friends at UT Dallas. If I went there, I would live on campus because the dorms are basically apartments and they’re pretty nice and (of course) extremely convenient to campus.

UT Dallas is located in the suburb of Richardson, but I think UT Dallas students get to ride the DART for free (Dallas Area Rapid Transit - like BART in San Francisco) which will take you downtown and to museums or shows or whatever you want. Most of the kids going to UT Dallas are from the Dallas area because there are huge ultra-competitive schools there and a lot of smart kids who end up in the 10-20% range in their class and end up going to UT Dallas, so you will likely make some friends who live across town and can drive you wherever.

It’s really not uncommon for people to go to A&M because they didn’t get into McCombs and they often manage to transfer in or end up going to UT for the MPA program, so don’t rule it out. It has the second best accounting program in Texas.

Baylor might be a good option as well, but it is private so it could be more expensive. After UT Austin, A&M and Baylor, I would go to UT Dallas.
