Assignment:
Do changes that make our lives easier not necessarily make them better ?

Essay :
Technology has invaded our lifestyle. It is now part of everything we do. It has often been argued that changes that supposedly make our lives easier such as technological advancements do not necessarily make it better.
Taking the case of technology, we can easily see it good effects. For example, we can take a look at our surroundings : modern buildings, lcd tvs and so on. All of these are products are technological advancement. Moreover, the entire world is now connected to the internet. We can easily communicate with one another, view live events from anywhere in the world via webcams and also meet new people on social networking websites such as Facebook.
Computerisation has taken over in the medical field. Real-time monitoring system are used to check-on patients in "Intensive Care Units". Computer-generated models of the human body have been created which are used to demonstrate the effects of diseases on a human. Thanks to the latter, the amount of animals abducted for vivisection has greatly decreased.
However, technology has also 'contaminated' our lifestyle. Nowadays, because of computerisation, we spend all of our time facing computer screens : we work on computers , we play on computers, we read the news on computers and so on. We don't even exercise regularly. Thanks to this, obesity is on the rise. Many people are facing back problems. Some even have damaged their eyes by glaring too much at the computer screen. Moreover, acres of forest are vanishing. We have lost the latter to new buildings and constructions. Our planet will soon no longer be a green and blue planet but a grey and blue one.
I personally believe that changes to our lives are good. However they must be controlled. For example, if we are to destroy acres of forest, we should ensure that the buildings we make compensate for that.
