Please review my HS record as I want to attend USNA

Hello! Thank you for clicking on my topic.

Since about sixth grade I have had the dream of going to the Naval Academy, as I grew up on the yard (on Worden Field). However, during my sophomore year in HS, I lost focus of the dream to attend and achieved almost nothing academically, I guess I gave up the ship! Despite the setback, I have started my Junior year more motivated than ever and have seen changes in my grades, character, and other aspects of my life.

GPA-
Unweighted (3.52)
Weighted (3.67)

Test Scores-
PSAT- 1320 (out of 1600 or 1520)
SAT- Not yet taken
ACT- Not yet taken
AP United States History Exam- 4 (however, the Academy may not recognize)

Advanced classes taken-
Honors Sophomore Math (9th)
Honors Junior Math (9th)
Honors Senior Math (10th)
Honors Pre-Calc (11th)
Honors Chem. (10th)
AP United States History (10th)
AP Biology (11th)
AP Computer Science Principles (11th)
AP U.S. Government (11th)

I also plan to take AP Calculus, AP Stats, AP Computer Science A, AP European History and/or AP English my senior year.

Extracurriculars-

  • Varsity Lacrosse starter since 9th grade, receiving a leadership award in 9th grade as well as co-leader of Sophomore Lacrosse players in 10th grade.
  • Varsity Hockey starter since freshmen year. Selected to represent my school’s hockey program in PCA (Positive Coaching Alliance) meetings.
  • Member of Model United Nations since freshmen year.
  • Member of Key Club
  • Member of The Village Project, a non-profit organization that cooks meals for cancer patients.
  • Member of YPF, a school program that allows students to develop charity events in school.
  • Lifeguarded summer of 2017
  • Buckeye Boys leardership program (2018)

Although I have obviously made my chances of getting accepted slim to none, I believe that foundation school or NAPS may be right for me so I can mature and prepare academically, except I have limited knowledge on this topic as well!

Thank you for reviewing my post and if more information is needed, please let me know!

Your GPA is a little low, but you have the entire year to get that up. The compelling part is the starting on Lacrosse since freshman year. You could get a nod in that direction if you are truly gifted there. Those are oftentimes the ones selected for NAPS or Foundation. Keep focusing on grades and test scores as your extra-currics look good. Have you done camps at USNA for lacrosse? Make touches to the Academy as that counts too. Ohio is a pretty competitive state so that isn’t good but keep making yourself stand out as a leader.
