ASSIGNMENT: IS CREATIVITY NEEDED MORE THAN EVER IN THE WORLD TODAY?Creativity is what drives a person insane, keeping him or her from losing it at the same time. It crosses the worlds realms; detaching people form their former lives. But today, creativity id viewed as a subtle form of expression. It is known to defy the laws of pragmatic thinking. But for me, its the other way around. I think that pragmatic thinking is a hindrance to creativity. And as Pablo Picasso said, the sole enemy of creativity is good sense.Reality, however harsh it may be, is essential for living. If a person cant face reality, he or she isnt courageous enough to face the arduous path of life. I completely agree with this notion. But people sometimes forget that there is nothing wrong in fulfilling lifes journey with a mix of sparkle and imagination. The difference between facing reality and being practical is hard to find. Practicality is an inborn trait whereas reality, we all have to face that, some or the other day, in our lives. But reality shouldnt be seen as an enemy of creativity or imagination. Reality and imagination truly support each other. A person can be practical and not creative, but a person cant be necessarily creative and unwilling to face reality.Id like to quote the example of Charles dickens, a pioneer in the field of writing. What is it about his book that makes almost everyone snivel from the bottom of their heart? It is his perception, or way of perceiving reality. His books include factual descriptions of his life. like in the case of DAVID COPPERFIELD, the child is left alone as his mother marries another man who is pugnacious and imperious. These incidents actually took place in his life. Another book, LITTLE DORRIT is actually based upon his childhood. These books offer a range of dickens childhood experiences that reflect his journey of life, but in a covert manner.*Mostly, authors write stories and poems based upon their actual experiences. But very few people know that the feelings portrayed in the books of these authors are actually testaments to what they had to face, before they made their way into the imaginative world of books, which readily accepted them.In conclusion, I regard creativity to be one of the most needed things today. It is needed in order to change peoples way of thinking towards life and experiences. It is needed to form a coalition between reality and creativity. It may lessen the burden of reality on some people, but will never blindfold them towards life.

This is a three out of six, mostly because of awkward phrasings and lack of coherence. I suppose a more charitable reader might give it a four, so we’re looking at either a six or a seven out of twelve.

Its nearly incomprehensible but I pushed through to see what your examples are.

Pablo Picasso is a good reference but you needed to add more detail. What specifically about Picasso would support your position?

I think you are saying in the Dickens example that it was real life events that were the fuel for Dicken’s creativity. Its a decent point, but I dont think germane to the prompt.

The question was “is creativity needed more than ever today”. You need to take a firm position on that in the first two sentence. Regardless of what you think about the nature of creativity, you need to say if its needed more.

If English isnt your native language I’d suggest write the whole thing again in whatever you are best in. You have to get the logic right first.

Here is what the structure should be (and you must use paragraphs):

OPENING: “Creativity is/isnt more important than ever because ________” [for instance “creativity is more important than ever because the world is now so complex that to make further progress we need whole new ways of thinking”]

Example 1: Picasso revolutionized the art world in the early 20th century through Cubism, which was just a furthering of existing artistic, but a whole new approach. He was able to break through the stale techniques and found a whole movement in painting, sculpture and music.

Example 2: Charles Dickens had life experiences not so different from others in 18th century England. But he alone used his creative to show how these personal incidents reflected greater societal concerns. His creative stories resonated with the public and kicked off an era of social reform.

Example 3: Optional, but maybe something from history or technology

Conclusion: We have seen from Picasso and Dickens that creativity can open whole new fields and better conditions everyone in ways that conventional thinking can not.

Wow jkjeremy is in a generous mood today! I am not sure how a grader would even complete parsing it in the time allotted.

I had to pretend that the paper had been paragraphed.

What did you do with this:
“Creativity is what drives a person insane, keeping him or her from losing it at the same time. It crosses the world’s realms; detaching people form their former lives”

I dont see how that takes a position on the prompt, or even makes much sense.
It looked like a 2 to me with so many usage errors it was better just to focus on improving the logic.

I attempted to read it and then tried to forget that I’d ever seen it.

You are correct that that particular sentence doesn’t take a position on the prompt. However, people are under the mistaken impression that certain things MUST appear in certain specific places.

Like you, I could justify a two on this (but not a four or a one).
