Prompt: Does questioning authority make a society stronger?

_Nowadays we American are proud to have the freedom of speech and freedom of press to question the government. However, questioning authority can be dangerous, diving a country and its people, and causing great pandemonium.
_The famous Civil War of the United States illustrates this perfectly. In the 1800s, the African Americans were still held in captivity under the "chains" by the whites who claims that African Americans were not human. However, after the publication of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and the start of the abolitionist movements, society increasingly became acknowledged that African Americans are human, too. When President Abraham Lincoln was in office, he made the crucial decision of emancipating the slaves. However, this decision caused great distraught among the wealthy plantation owners in the south who rely on their slave labors for their profit. Tension increases between the North, who supports the President, and the South, who don't. War breaks out as a result, killing thousands. The questioning of Abraham Lincoln in the end led to catastrophe for the whole country.
_The French Revolution also ends very similarly to the Civil War. After decades of corrupted monarchy ruling over the poor and starved peasants, the under- and middle- class finally revolted with a bloody rebellion against the whole aristocracy and royal family. Where did that land them, though? To a more peaceful, happy, and equal era? No, in the end another dictator, Maxim Robespierre, took over, killing thousands of innocents suspected of "thoughts of rebellions". The peasants' questioning of authority ultimately led to another failed revolution.
_After a careful analysis of the Civil War of the United States and the French Revolution, it was demonstrated that the question of authority does not make a country stronger, but rather make it more broken and vulnerable. Just like violence can only lead to violence, negativity can only lead to negativity.

Examples were decent. But it kind of came from the same perspective. Like it talked about civil war/revolution. Transition was a bit weak. Sentences were very elementary. Try to study up some vocab…possibly direct hits or word smart. Nothing looks better than an essay that looks “smart”. HAHA although that is not the biggest factor to your essay grade, still helps to use stronger vocabulary. Overall, decent examples but need better sentence structure as well as transitions.

Hope that helped! :)
