Please Chance me.
Are you in state? If you’re OOS, with your gpa/test scores you most likely will not get in. If you’re in state, you want to be near the top of your class to be safe. If you’re not near the top 10%, then make sure the rest of your application is strong to be competitive. There’s no guarantee, so make sure you apply to a lot of safeties as well. Good luck!
ACT is below the middle 50% and GPA is slightly lower too. I would probably consider Chapel Hill a slight reach given what we know.
I understand that the average GPA for Chapel Hill is around a 4.6 but my school does not offer enough AP classes for anyone in my class to ever achieve that. Does this help?
That’s why weighted GPAs are so problematic! you won’t be penalized for not having a GPA that is not possible to achieve in the context of your school. 3.75 UW GPA is the last I saw; top 10% of your class is a good rule of thumb.
Your ACT is going to hurt you, as it is in the bottom 25% of admitted students.
If you are in-state and NOT in Wake County that will help, If you are OOS I wouldn’t fancy your chances.
edit: just looked at your other posts & see that you are a MN resident looking at UMi-Ross & UNC-CH. No matter how much you emphasize that a university is your “dream” school the college application process has a way of forcing reality on you. When you have your new ACT score come back and tell us more about what you are looking for in terms of a college, and there are lots of people here who will help you build a solid list of likely, possible and dream schools that will leave you with good choices next year.
What is your class rank and are you in state?
I’m in the top 6% of my class and I’m out of state
You should look at the accepted UNC thread and look at the stats of OOS students. That will give you a better idea of what UNC is looking for.
I think your ACT is too low. Can you retake it? Or try the SAT?
ACT too low for out of state unless URM. OOS kids are going to have 32+ ACT if not URM. look at the results thread, your jaw will drop for OOS credentials to UNC. It is not an exaggeration to see kids OOS get into UNC that also get into/consider U. Chicago, Hopkins, Carnegie mellon etc…
