i am not very comfortable looking at the screen for too long..so,is there any useful book about college selection, including some details, not just rank/location/faculty..how about priceton review's best 366 college or fiske guide to college?anyone used that before?
thx,anyway..

My D likes the Fiske Guide and has used it extensively, along with info from her GC and online.

I also recently gave her Harvard Schmarvard: Getting Beyond the Ivy League to the College that is Right for You by Jay Matthews. She is not interested in any of the Ivies or other "Top 20" schools, partly as a reaction to the Ivy-lust so prevalent among most of the other students at her high school and partly because she is cost conscious and doesn't believe they are worth the extra change.

Good luck on your search!

Fiske is the best by far. Aside from general stats, it gives ratings out of 5 stars for Academics, Social Life, and Quality of Life for each school, and provides a 1-3 page write-up on each.

Of course you have to take the ratings with a grain of salt and remember that it's just one person's opinion.

I second the request for books!

I really liked the Princeton Review of the top 366 colleges. Lots of info in there.

Fiske guide is good.

Get "colleges that change lives" from the library and give it a read. Stars - use one of these colleges as a safety school. regular people - look, you can get into these schools without the GPAs and test scores of the stars.

Colleges That Change Lives is another good one, but maybe you should try an online search instead of a book. I recommend myUsearch.com, petersons.com and collegeboard.org. Hope that helps.

thx for your comments..i think i get some ideas..:-)
